View Full Version : Beck thought Hamas was Shi'ia

Big brain Beck at it again.

About the 4 minute mark (http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201101310016)

Struggling to 'explain' MidEastern terror dynamics, Beck and friends first say Muslim Brotherhood = Hamas (true enough), but then they mistakenly say Hamas is Shi'ia, and Hizbollah, clearly the creature of Shiite Iran, is Sunni.

They finally realize that if Hizbollah is Iran's proxy, they're probably Shi'ia, making Hamas more likely Sunni, and it sounds as if they make a quick internet trip and become certain.

To be fair, they are only following dear leader W's example, when he didn't know the difference either.

I was listening to him live.

He also wanted to make sure he had it right and did so.

So whats is your point?

This is a good example of why our society is so misinformed.

Does this man really belong in the position he fills, if he is not clear on something so basic?

I'd be willing to bet that neither Palin, nor Bachmann, understands how Bush's illegal invasion of Iraq, has served Iran.

And Bush!!!! When President!!!! Showing he didn't understand the threats or implications, of his own policies!!!

Unbelievable!

Very true, Gayle. Much like a president not knowing there aren't 57 states in the US.

The point is that he and his giggling posse got it entirely wrong, backwards from the truth, and then getting it RIGHT involved reversing their prior stated (false) facts, on both Hamas and Hizbollah.

I guess it's great they corrected themselves, but how many times do they make equally egregious errors and never know they're wrong, never correct themselves, and their listeners take it as gospel?

I rarely listen, and never watch, Beck, but I heard another one from them the other day.

Discussing the value of the Canadian dollar compared to the US dollar, this is what was said. "What, the Canadian dollar was 5-1, 6-1 to make a US dollar? Now it's completely reversed!"

The Canadian dollar was never 20 cents American dollar equivalent. And now that it has gotten to parity and past parity, the Canadian dollar is about $1.04 American dollars, not $5 or $6 American dollars.

That is, they only missed the relative change in the two currencies by about 2,500%, give or take.

Highly under-educated group there, in Beck and his brain trust of cretins.

You take a man who admits he spent his youth and prime as an alcoholic coke addict who blew $400k up his nose a year (Beck's own description), who never paid attention to anything until after 2001 (as he says), and his 10 years of trying to catch up make him about a sophomore in high school (which explains a lot).

Riiiight. Since misspeaking after months to a year on a 24-7 grueling campaign trail, referring to the FORTY-SEVEN states he'd been to as fifty-seven, can only mean he doesn't know there are 50 states. Ok, then.

I say we just refer to them as terrorists since that seems to be the business they have chosen.

Seriously, you are going to defend Obama for that mistake and not just come out and say he screwed up and it was funny? Would you have defended Palin for saying something wrong after wearing out on the campaign trail?

It was a mistake, and it was funny. What is WASN'T is any evidence he doesn't know how many states there really are, and also it isn't a reference to Islam (which are what those pushing that mistake as something else try to claim).

In the case of Palin, if it were an obvious misstatement, I'd cut her slack as well. (I believe in slack! as a sometime adherent to the SubGenius religion, according to Bob!)

The question would be how obvious it was AS a misstatement, because she has a well-earned reputation of ridiculous statements that are NOT misstatements, but what she really thinks.

Do you seriously need to even ask that question?

The left here has never, not even ONCE, used a single standard by which to judge people.

A mere slip, which happens to all in the media.

Matthews isn't trying to run the country, isn't going for the presidency.

OTOH, the Right has shown they embrace people who are obviously in their insane demonstrations of ignorance, fear mingering, and outright lies.
