Meet Rep. Darrell Issa. He promises to scrutinize and investigate every possible picayune aspect of the Obama administration, but this might be taking things a little too far. He's now requesting information about everyone who requested FOIA information over the last four years. (behind NYT paywall)

Representative Darrell Issa calls it a way to promote transparency: a request for the names of hundreds of thousands of ordinary citizens, business executives, journalists and others who have requested copies of federal government documents in recent years.

Mr. Issa, a California Republican and the new chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, says he wants to make sure agencies respond in a timely fashion to Freedom of Information Act requests and do not delay them out of political considerations.

But his extraordinary request worries some civil libertarians. It “just seems sort of creepy that one person in the government could track who is looking into what and what kinds of questions they are asking,” said David Cuillier, a University of Arizona journalism professor and chairman of the Freedom of Information Committee at the Society of Professional Journalists. “It is an easy way to target people who he might think are up to no good.”

Its Big Brother mark 2.

The GOP have shown quite clearly they cannot be trusted. They have already broken every promise they made.

Yep. First it was the nonexistant "Death Panels" in Health Care Reform, affordablle Health Care Act, which we now see existing ONLY through the "Mandate" of a Republican Governor, in Arizona.

That was a Republoican Policy, approved by all Republican Leaders, during the Clinton years.

Current Republicans, followed up the absurd "Death Panel" Accusations, with accusations of an "Obamacare" unconstitutional "Mandate" to buy Health Insurance, AGAIN, THEIR OWN POLICY, which also, is a Republican Governor's creation and policy, in his state, and approved by the Republican State Party, a policy of Republican Governor, Romney, and also existing to this day, in his state.

Which party is the Hallmark of actual unconstitutional actions, on the issue of abortion, and a family's right to privacy, in their personal decisions in their lives?

Simple, and again, the Repubican Party.

When did we actually see REAL gun legislation, and who was behind it?

Again, OMG, it was the Brady Bill, AGAIN, a Republican, and was approved by whom???? OMG, the beloved RW, illegal alien hero, cowboy, TREASONIST-Ronald Reagan!

Which Administration and majority actually grew government, more than any previous administrations, borrowed more money, than all previous, combined, blew more money, and hid their spending in "Emergency Spending?"

OMG, AGAIN, a Republican Administration, and a Republican Majority!

Which party was boosted with racist members, who fled their former party, because they were against the Democratic Party's admirable legislation, to end segregation, and insure equal rights?

Hmmm, they all joined the Repubican Party.

Which president ran on no nation building, and then launched the most prevasive, expensive, on going, Nation Building exercise in over forty years? Hmmmm, again, a Republican President, the "Decider".... GW Bush.

Republican accusations against the opposing party, are actually most true of the Republican Party, their method is always to accuse others of what they, themselves, have done most prolifically.

That includes our current debt levels, the majority of which, are from money spent by Republicans, on policies which were launched by Republicans, who also have had the worst stats on job creation, on government expansion, and on unconstitutional activities, for over thirty years.

Republican bait and switch, lie and deny, hide and burry.

What's up is down, and what's down is up.

The authoritarian loving, privacy invading, torture approving, shovel fed, anti-constitutioanl Republican Party, does not embrace, refuses to recognize, FACTS.

The Freedom of Information applies to all government documents except for information that concerns national security. Anyone can ask for any information, and it should be provided. So, if I can ask for and receive information about certain members of Congress, should they not have the same access to information about me?

Becoming a member of Congress does not require anyone to give up the rights they have as a citizen of the country.

We either have freedom of information, or we don't. But if we have it, it is available to anyone.

At least there are a couple of them willing to attempt discussion. Then we have the iron maiden, who chooses to ignore anyone who challenges her, rather than attempt to defend her position.

Total Ignore is her way of ducking the issues.

It's funny, in a sad sort of way.

What wasn't put on the spoon is that they aren't investigating the people who inquired ... they are investigating the state's poor compliance with the law.
