John Schmidt, who usually dominates the high run attempts, had an off year, running only 73. He did run a 149 in practice the day before the event started, but during the competition, he did not soar to his usual heights.

Danny Harriman, another dangerous contender, showed up the last day and took all twelve of his attempts. He said he hadnít played any 14.1 in a year. His high run was a 72 http://vimeo.com/19853043 and he just missed our eighth seed, John Schmidt who had the 73. Johnny Archer came up short with a 71 http://vimeo.com/19956468 . Mika Immonen also came close with a 68.

This is the second time that Darren has won this event. In 2008, he beat Niels Feijen in the finals; in 2009, he lost to Danny Harriman in the finals and in 2010, he did not play. He has only been playing 14.1 since 2007 and not much of that. Not bad for a Brit with not much experience in the game. Highest run ever recorded in a competition!
