Republicans keep on laying out bait, and Obama keeps on leaving it on the dock!

WHAT A GREAT SPEECH TODAY!!!!

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

LMAO! I love this guy!

He continues to be the ONLY adult in the room, and they continue to look more and more ridiculous.

Let the Republicans cut entitlements for the people who are in the greates struggle to survive. Let them keep on holding out, making their ridiculous threats, hurting the markets, holding the recovery hostage, while they do NOTHING!

Every single time a newperson asks a Republican what they want to do about entitlements, they go into the zone, lol,...

<span style='font-size: 20pt'>"wonk wonk wonk wonk wonk."</span>

Hilarious! After all of that Republican <span style='font-size: 20pt'>blubbering poppycock!</span>

Good thinking, President Obama. Let those Repiglicans continue to give those loopholes and tax cuts for the wealthy, while they keep on yapping about cutting entitlements for the struggling masses!

Let those pigs keep on showing their asses!

SUUUUUUWEEEEEEEEEEE!

It is immensely depressing that the Republicans simply obstruct everything Obama presents, out of party political goals. We are in such a bad shape since Bush left, but much better with Obama...it sucks that the Reps only want their way, and say F the voters, except for the rich. The Republicans are plain and simple, evil. Case closed. sid

I guess I must have dozed off during that part of the speech today. Did Obama specifically address what he wants to do about entitlements?????????????????????????????

Or was it just <span style='font-size: 20pt'>"wonk wonk wonk wonk wonk."</span>

Tap Tap Tap!

Record surpluses, under Clinton, a Democratic President, and a peaceful nation, with more job creation than Reagan, Bush and Bush, combined! WITH TAX CUTS!

Enter Bush:

Election fraud.

Lies about his DUI.

Lies to foment War.

Destroying the separation of church and state.

Attacks against women's rights.

Demonizing Gay People.

TARP BAILOUT! With Boehner crying his eyes out on the Senate Floor, to pass it.

The brink of Depression,
More borrowing and debts, than all previous administrations, combined.

Two mismanaged, unfiniashed wars, one completely un-necessary, and the escape of bin Laden, in order to focus on the one which gained for our country... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

A government, so completely incompetent, in every agency, we couldn't even respond to a damned hurricane.

A Franchised al Qaeda,

The disgrace of torture, leaving our enemies emboldened.

Iran and North Korea, moving forward with nukes, throughout his eight years.

Russia, flexing their muscles, under BUSH!

Bush never addressed nor heeded, a single warning, about 9/11, or about the coming economic collapse, under his "Ownership Society"

Now, we see the same oldline Repuglican Leaders, obstructing our recovery, slandering the president, fomenting domestic violence, and still, representing ONLY the wealthy!

No money for hungry children, or suffering veterans and their families, no money for our first responders, who were lied to about the safety of working around ground zero, by Guiliani, but plenty of tax cuts and loopholes, for the filthy rich, the same filthy CEO's who bilked the country for eight years in Iraq, at the gas pumps, for pharmaceuticals, for insurance coverage, and then on Wall Street!

And what is thhe first thing Repiglicans want to cut???

The Center for Disease Control!!!!!

Absolutely repulsive!

Maybe.

I mean, of course, O probably gave a great speech, since that is his specialty talent. (And I didn't hear it to comment one way or another.) But whether he's got some brilliant negotiating tactic up his sleeve or not, isn't quite so clear.

It is the general feeling among liberals that he has not been a good negotiator at all, pre-emptively offering concessions without any quid pro quo, making for severely compromised legislation that kinda sucks, and apparently, unnecessarily, and without gaining the kind of bipartisan cred he apparently seeks.

MAYBE, it's all a setup in the 'long game' that he has mentioned. That theory goes like this: yes, he offers too much to those who reject his every entreaty to deal, and has been stuck with less than good results because of that (and without bipartisan cover). But by so doing, he sets up the impression in the people that he is bending over backwards to be centrist, hence is no ideologue radical as the common attacks on him claim. Therefore, he retains his good standing with the people and is easily re-elected.

But wait. The setup could result in exactly the assault on SS and MC that almost everyone opposes (polling shows even GOPrs and TPrs oppose cuts there at about the same rate as Dems, at 70% rates of opposition).

After all, NAFTA and GATT could probably have only passed with a Democratic president Clinton, and those GOP-authored and desired programs have been disastrous.

Overall, I'd say Obama is smart in terms of his own prospects, but those may involve harming the prospects of the country in the end as well.

Cult member G originates another "Obama is great" thread, fails in all respects to qualify or quantify her position, yet quickly switches topics and proceeds to negatively rant about Bush's failed presidency.

Two failures do not equal one success.

Definitely a clear sign of brain deterioration.

<span style="color: #990000">I don't think it is meant to be clear, at this time. </span>

It is the general feeling among liberals that he has not been a good negotiator at all, pre-emptively offering concessions without any quid pro quo,

<span style="color: #990000">When did he do that? If you're referring to the extention of the Bush Tax cuts, I think he was ready to do whatever he had to do, to prevent the Repubs, from cutting off the unemployed. I also, think, the Repubs, are turning off the Middle, with their usual politics of personal destruction, and have no leader, at all, that is acceptable to the independents.

Boehner, is going to look very incompetent, compared to the achievements of Nancy Pelosi, and Americans, DO want to see things getting done.

With all of the bad press coming out on Justice Thomas, and Scalia, I think the SC, is going to tone it down on the outrageous RW activism.

The HCB, will survive the republican lies, and going forward, more of the good parts, will become more evident and prominent.

Republicans are going to continue to push against Women's rights, and that is NOT going to be popular amongst Independents, nor women.

As it is right now, they're offending women, with their subversion of women's rights, on going homophobic attacks against Gay rights, Racist Attacks, against the President, and the more they pander to their radical right, the more they're going to turn off reasonable Independents, who do respect the Constitution, and don't approve of Republicans trying to make murdering, a respectable, rational act against law abiding Doctors.</span>

making for severely compromised legislation that kinda sucks, and apparently, unnecessarily, and without gaining the kind of bipartisan cred he apparently seeks.

<span style="color: #990000">You'll have to point them out, specifically, to me, as I know of no time when he wasn't having to give, in order to get something very important taken care of, which IMO, will change a good deal, after he wins the next election.

His approval rate, is still around 50 to 60 percent, according to the polls, Much higher right now than the new Republican congress, lol.

The Affordable HC Bill, will survive, and eventually, Republicans are going to HAVE to get off the obstruction, annd work cooperatively, to improve it, instead of just obstructing.

Several compromises he made in this budget, he knows won't pass the Dems in the Senate, so he's looking at recent compromises, from the right perspective, IMO...

I think he is strategizing very well.

If Republicans want to keep tax cuts for the filthy rich, and ruin the recovery by drastic cuts in spending, damaging to the recovery, which he has warned them not to do, as did the deficit panel, then let them do it!

THEY WON'T.

It was Jobs, jobs, jobs, deficits, deficits, deficits, along with block, Block, Block, from the Republicans, and now, the ball is in their court. Plus, they have broken every single promise they made, AND shown they only care about the wealthy.

What did Boehner say, yesterday? "If jobs are lost, so be it!"

LOL, first he lied about how many new government jobs were created under Obama, trippled the number, then he said, job losses(?) so what!

Boehner is not going to be an effective SOTH. He's not nearly as bright as Pelosi, and has zilch going for him as a vote builder.

</span> MAYBE, it's all a setup in the 'long game' that he has mentioned. That theory goes like this: yes, he offers too much to those who reject his every entreaty to deal, and has been stuck with less than good results because of that (and without bipartisan cover). <span style="color: #990000">I'll lay a wager, neither party is going to touch SS or MC, before the 2012 election, but only ONE party, promised to do so.

SS should not be the focus, anyway. It is solvent until 2037. MC will be reduced under the current HC plan, and more options for reducing the costs, are in the planning stages as we write.

By spring, we will begin reducing troops, in Afghanistan, IMO, in the meantime, Republicans are insisting on spending multi-billions on an engine, that the Pentagon doesn't even WANT, efor a fancy jet, that already has an engine, IOW&lt; more of their usual, protecting wdefense contractors and the the very very rich, from higher taxes.

the fact is, we cannot go forward, without cutting defense spending, and raising taxes on the wealthiest, that's a fact which will become more evidient, as Republicans begin to have to put their money where their mouths have been for the last four years.

By Fall, I think you're going to see a lot of damaging info out there on the Republicans, since we know, they cannot govern, and there is still more in the mill right now, about Wall Street, which is going to be a huge story, bad for the Repubs.

They will look even more incompetent, than the last time, because they will not only be obstructing the President, for their petty political pusposes, but they will be fighting with their beloved Tea Party Newbies, as well, and they are going to pay for that.

Most of America, doen't want government in their bedrooms, or inside their bodies, trust me. The Tea Party, is no cross section.
</span>

After all, NAFTA and GATT could probably have only passed with a Democratic president Clinton, and those GOP-authored and desired programs have been disastrous.

Overall, I'd say Obama is smart in terms of his own prospects, but those may involve harming the prospects of the country in the end as well.

</div></div>
<span style="color: #990000">Well, we'll see, but IMO, he's being very smart. who has ever hurt america, as much as Bush and the last Republican blank check Congress????

They relentlessly attack the President, and lie about him non stop, so now, he's saying,..... OK boys, lets see whatcha got!

Good plan IMO.

Repubs are the ones screaming about the deficit, which when you do the research, turns out most Americans are far more interested in continuing to get their MC and SS, and get jobs, than they are about the deficit. Have you heard a single thing, anything at all, from the Repubs, about creating jobs???? One single rational plan????

The President, AND the Democratics, are going to protect SS and MC, and the Repubs are going to protect the wealthy.

The President knows if he wants to meet his goals for the country, those that mean the most to him, and to our future, it will be after the next election.

He will show a face of cooperation, throughout, and Republicans will continue to be the whining, petty, obstructing, power and monmey grubbing pawns for the rich, that they've been all along, and even moreso, since they borrowed us into impotence.

Meanwhile, we're going to see the economy continue to grow, people have paid off their debts, and they are spending again, and we're going to see the Republicans continue to fail to raise taxes for billionaires, fail to finance the needed growth for a solid job recovery, block renewable fules, as they will block numerous rational new indsustrial investments, to protect the gulping, gouging oil CEO's, and their global Record Breaking on-going profits, which advantage no one in America, and in fact, are killing Americans, with their polluting practices.

More health information is coming out everyday, on the health threats from Fracking, and more people are aware of it because more of their relatives, are getting cancer, and losing the value of their property, due to the oil industry, and their assault on the environment.

Republicans want to do away with the EPA!

I think we're going to see Obama dealing with the Chinese, as well, to even the playing field, and we're going to see taxes, on corporations who work against our country's best interests, outsourcing jobs, and adding to health costs, and the President working to remove the loopholes advanntaged by polluters and job ooursourcing corporations.

IOW, Repubs, will not be in a good position in 2012, since we all know, they are unable to stop spending, refuse to raise taxes, insist on pandering to the extremely wealthy, and all of that is going to be a good deal more repulsive to the public, going forward.

Then there is the fact, that most Americans like this president, and they are getting pretty fed up with the republican obstructionism, and even more so, with the vicious attacks, which is the ONLY thing Republicans are good at doing, IMO.

I heard a number of pundits, BTW, outraged over the way O'Reilly disrespected the President.

I am noticing more disgust from participants on call-in programming, with Republican slander, sexism, racism and lies.

It's getting old, and it's all they have. We're not all Radical Rw religious fundamentalists, who think we can justify murder, by invoking God. Actually, that s pretty samll demographic.
