The Most Disturbing Personality on Cable Television
Peter Wehner 02.24.2011 - 9:37 AM </span>

In the past few weeks Glenn Beck has spoken about the coming caliphate that he believes is about to envelope most of the world. He then dilated on the anti-Christ with a man who says he has “new prophetic understanding into the end times.” In 2009, this self-proclaimed prophet wrote a column titled “What Obama and the Anti-Christ Have in Common.” Then, on a recent show, the discussion focused on the coming Islamic anti-Christ. And earlier this week, an irate, bellicose Beck spoke about the “perfect storm” America faces. “I can’t honestly believe we’re finally here,” he said in praising his own prescience. In his version of events, Beck is the solitary Voice of Truth willing to expose the New World Order (complete with references to Van Jones and Code Pink).

It’s hard to tell how much of what Beck says is sincere and how much is for show. Whatever the case, and even taking into account the entire MSNBC lineup, Glenn Beck has become the most disturbing personality on cable television. One cannot watch him for any length of time without being struck by his affinity for conspiracies and for portraying himself as the great decoder of events. Political movements are not just wrong; they are infiltrated by a web of malevolent forces. Others see the shadows on the wall; Beck alone sees the men casting them. The danger when one paints the world in such conspiratorial terms is that it devalues the rational side of politics. It encourages a cast of mind that looks to expose enemies rather than to engage in arguments. Few things, after all, are as they appear.

Beyond that, of course, is the sense of impending doom, of the coming Apocalypse, of our world being on the edge of calamity. If taken seriously, this has the effect of creating fear, hopelessness, and feelings of helplessness.

All this is quite troublesome in its own right. But what ought to worry conservatives in particular is that Beck not only has the unusual capacity to discredit virtually every cause he takes up; he also confirms the worst caricatures of the right. What was true before is doubly true today. It looks to me like it’s only a matter of time — and I suspect not much time — until he blows apart professionally. If and when that happens, one can only hope that conservatism as a movement will have created enough distance from Beck to mitigate the damage.

At least Beck lays a hypothesis on the table for consideration and gives some evidence pointing to its likelihood. Compare that with what the administration is providing....NOTHING. The Moron's head is totally empty, without substance, without direction and pitiful for the leader of our country.

No response to Rove's Brain, condemning Beck, and addressing the degree to which Beck damages the Republican party, I see, and then you talk of providing a hypothesis, when all you have done is repeat your vicious attack the president, and with no proof for statements made in your attack, whatsoever!

And you do this after claiming that you are a tolerrant person?

LMAO! You get more irrational everyday!

Beck is way out, and on his way out. Careful, he may bump into you on his way.

This president is the most thoughtful, careful, contemplative president we have had since Bill Clinton, who could speak at length about any issue, and still can. President Obama inherited the worst legacy in our history, left by Republican warring, spending, growing government, allowing corruption in the market place, never addressing a single threat to our country or it's economoy, and you have the nerve to call a proven scholar, a Moron, and after years of praising a murderer?

OUT THERE!

Too bad, you're missing all that cowboy rhetoric, and gut based going off half cocked. We won't be seeing that from our current BRILLIANT PRESIDENT, but then how could someone like you, or your buddies here, ever possibly understand the difference, since you all voted for Bush TWICE!

I didn't understand the 'Rove's Brain' connection with the post so it was hard to respond directly to that and I suspect the Beck will aid the Republican Party by forcing them further toward their conservative roots in limited, constitutional government. He has a huge audience and he is always talking about the Constitution and the Founders so that has got to help our country.

If only The Moron were just a moron and not anti-American then at least some of his actions and decisions would work in the country's favor. The truth is that he is a anti-capitalist Marxist that is intensionally destroying our country with his every move.

</div></div>LMAO! You don't know who Peter Wehner is????

BWA HA HA HA, that is choice!

LOOK IT UP! He was Rove's Right Hand man for EIGHT YEARS! Inside Washington, he is known as Rove's Brain.

But then, one would think that someone who is in the know, on the Hot "Rumor" Mill, would know such things.

Even Republicans, such as Wehner, are concerned about the results of Beck's irrational accusations, hate speak, and outbursts, obviously, and the FACT that he is losing sponsors AND Viewerrs, speaks for itself.

As for Morons....

I'm quite sure the President knows how to spell "Intentionally."

I agree that this is faint praise indeed, considering the only other president in this mix is W, who spoke English worse than every foreign leader (typically, English as a THIRD or FOURTH language, for those) with whom he shared a stage, LOL!
