Had the regime offered to interceded and helped Egypt institute the framework of a true republic where the rights of all are respected, as Bush I did in eastern Europe ... and Bush II did in Iraq/Afghanistan ... and Truman did in Germany/Italy/Japan, perhaps bloodshed might have been avoided.
