View Full Version : What if Obama Fired State Governments

Background.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"><span style='font-size: 20pt'>Tea Party Michigan Governor Rick Snyder Adopts Soviet-style Authoritarian Powers Over Michigan Cities</span>

We talked about Scott Walker's Orwellian rhetoric yesterday, but Michigan Tea Party Gov. Rick Snyder leaves Walker in the dust when it comes to turning the book "1984" into a reality.

<span style='font-size: 14pt'>Snyder recently signed a bill that gives him powers to unilaterally take over local governments by appointing "emergency financial managers" with near absolute powers to supersede decisions made by democratically elected officials.
</span>
If this strikes some as an example of the type of governmental tyranny that the Tea Party deplored (but never existed before in a state as far as we know), that is because it is.

The Tea Party - and the Republican Party - have shouted to the rooftops that local government and individual liberties are the true "patriotic" freedoms in America.

Yet, they elect a governor in Michigan who - as one of his first pieces of legislation - empowers himself to take those rights away, nullifying the will of the voters in a given town or city.

Snyder just made Orwellian Tea Party history when his appointed "emergency financial manager" for Benton Harbor, Michigan, prohibited elected officials of that city from making any decisions or otherwise carrying out their duties. </div></div>

What if....?

<span style='font-size: 14pt'> What if President Obama appointed "emergency financial managers" to oversee states in economic distress? What if the president also was empowered to unilaterally dismiss the governments of those states that were billions of dollars in debt and appoint his own overseer who could contract out public services without oversight?</span>

That's a scenario that Charles Showalter, host of the Union Edge radio program, raised today in a conversation with BuzzFlash at Truthout.

<u>First, there would be calls by the Tea Party, Republicans and even a lot of Democrats for Obama's impeachment, and if that didn't work, we might see the National Rifle Association wing of the Tea Party start a shooting war to "reclaim democracy."</u>

So, isn't it hypocritically ironic that declared and de facto Tea Party Republican governors are actually seizing or planning to seize such powers over towns and cities in their states? BuzzFlash at Truthout pointed this out over the weekend <u>in relation to Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and the alleged plans of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.</u>

<span style='font-size: 17pt'>Many so-called "red states" lead the nation in receiving more federal funds than taxpayers of those states pay into the Treasury in income tax. That means if federal funding were cut to those states to match their income tax payments, many would likely be forced into virtual bankruptcy. Should President Obama then appoint overseers to administer those state governments?</span>

<u>If not, why should Snyder and his GOP cohorts get away with disenfranchising voters in local communities and towns at their sole discretion? Isn't that a violation of our constitutional right to vote for our own government?

Isn't that a betrayal of the alleged Republican creed that government policies are best determined by local communities? </u> </div></div>

For or against?

Then we would have a totalitarian dictatorship ... and it is obvious to all that this is what the far left pines for.

What if this moonbat crazy leftist writer realized that if the feds had to operate under the same rules as the states ... they would be in bankruptcy today.

The states do have the power of the printing press as the feds do, hence they cannot monetize the debt and kick the problem down the road while they spoon feed their minions a pack of lies.

If the left would ever realize this, now that would be quite progressive.

Have you ever considered joining Nits Anonymous?

I would be against it both for the action and for the horrendous chance that it would be Obama picking the interims. We have seen how poorly his choices perform. If these guys are not doing what their constituents want them to do then they will be voted out the first chance the voters get.

Every day we are seeing more and more of the grand Repiglican hypocrisy exposed to the public.

We are seeing more and more proof, that Democratics are the ONLY party which protects or cares about working Midle Class Americans in our country, who do work hard, and pay their way.

While Repigs are doing what they always do, abusing their power, obstructing progress, and paving the way for corporate thieves, to gouge everyone, as Repigs fight to give them even more opportunities to steal from this country's collective wealth.

The Bush Tax Cuts will represent 60 percent of the deficit by 2019.

Free Market doesn't mean socialized losses, for the wealthy CEO's on the backs of everyone else, as they enjoy privatized profits.

Don't bet on it.

I don't think Obama has the stones to run a Fidel/Che/Pot/Mao/Stalin/Lenin/Hitler/Amin/Ceaucescu type brutal thugocracy ... but people who yearn for an omnipotent state seem to always eventually find a leader who does.

He would have to declare marshal law and initiate the insurrection act.

Chances are he would not make it out of such an overstep alive either.

Agreed, he hasn't the stones.

And, even if he did, his ultimate problem is that our military doesn't swear allegiance to the POTUS but to the COTUS ... so any such attempt would lead to a brigade in a shoot out with the Secret Service.

That being said, this regime is slowly laying the groundwork that would make a dictatorship quite likely in the future.

Trying to understand the mindset of someone who has no history of using logic and reasoning is an effort in futility.

Think of a well trained dog. They don't know why they do the things they do, but if you tell them to sit, lay down, roll over, or speak, they will do it over and over. All you have to do is give them a little treat now and then, and they are quite content.

Since you so frequently read between the lines and think you know the "secret meanings" behind every post, a person of the superior intellect that you claim should probably be able to figure it out for your self.

As for Gayle, well, if the shoe fits....
