New Chet's Restaurant in Toledo, which opened in 1973, will close Sunday.

Richard and Berlyn Lawrence decided about two weeks ago that it was time to call it quits.

Richard Lawrence said the restaurant once sold 50 of its popular farmer's omelets each day and stayed open round the clock for 31 years. </div></div>

"<u>Then the economy went sour on us</u>," said Lawrence, 82. "I never laid anybody off <u>until three years ago</u>." </div></div>

3 years ago?.................Mmmmmmmmmmmm....was Obama POTUS then?

Irrelevant to the point.

Obama implied that he saved them with the stimulus ... now they are toast.

I know it's hard for you, but at least try to pay attention.

Obviously he was wrong if he had said that but he didn't.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Obama visited the Jeep plant last Friday. <u>He suggested </u>that, without the auto plant's workers, Chet's and other local businesses would have fewer customers. </div></div>

So he said it but that doesn't mean he said it?

You don't even know what that means.

LWW, are you bereft of all ability to understand any nuance?

That a company would have more customers than otherwise in a recession/slow recovery doesn't mean they'd have ENOUGH to stay in business.

Consider if someone with a gunshot wound who goes to a hospital where they stabilize him, prevent his immediate death, but he dies 5 days later from complications. That's not a case where the emergency treatment didn't have a life-saving effect, whatever the later outcome may have been. That guy would have bled out that very day without the treatment.

That they 'saved his life' would be true, even though he died at a later time.

So it can be true BOTH that the man's business got more customers than it otherwise would have, AND that it eventually went out of business, later (if the extra customers weren't enough to sustain cash flow).

Consider this ... if the regime could find a better example of a local business benefitting from the porkulus bill, they would have used them instead.

There is nothing to nuance ... their best example of the "SUCCESS" of the war on prosperity that they could pimp was a mom and pop that couldn't survive the month.

Please. They could have gone to each and every supply chain company that feeds into Chrysler's production line and shown hundreds of people per supply company who benefited by keeping the job in existence.

Actually ... they couldn't have.

Suppliers are all struggling.

If they employ ANYBODY, ALL of them are examples.

'Cause they'd all have been let go when those supplier companies went bankrupt, having lost their only customer.

The suppliers? Not many of them in Florida that I've seen.

WHICH PROVES YOU WERE RIGHT (?). Or not.
