<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"><u>Sign Of The Times</u> of the Day: A 59-year-old North Carolina man with several serious medical problems, including an undiagnosed growth, informed the teller at an RBC Bank in Gastonia that he was committing an unarmed robbery. His demands: 1 dollar and three years in prison.

James Verone told Charlotte’s WCNC-TV that he was unemployed and broke, and thought his only option was to go to jail where he would receive health care and have a roof over his head. “I’m sort of a logical person and that was my logic,” he told the station.

Unfortunately for Verone, the sum of money he requested from the teller was not enough to constitute a bank robbery, and the amount of jail time he faces is considerably less than he would have liked. </div></div>

Why is he having to go to jail for medical help when you say anyone can get it?

The self-proclaimed "logical" person forgot what logic actually is. Next time you are in the states just take a walk through the emergency room and tell me how many "emergencies" you see clogging up the room.

We locally had a case recently where a nurse was fired from a local hospital.

Her sin?

A woman brought her son in, on a MEDICAID card, for a bee sting.

He was treated and released with instructions for the mom to get some OTC Benadryl for further treatment.

The next day they are back in the emergency room because the mom didn't spend the $2.99 for the Benadyl. When asked why not she explained that her MEDICAID card didn't pay for it, and she couldn't still get her nails done if she bought her kid the medicine. The nurse replied that if she had not spent $50 to have her nails done her kid wouldn't be back in the ER.

The next day SCLC leader Raleigh Tramell ... snce indicted on 51 counts of using gubmint money intended for the poor for his own persona use ... was picketing the hospital accusing them of racism.

If you notice that, why is it that you fail to integrate the fact that lack of affordable Health Care and Insurance for everyone in the US is exactly why our health care costs are unsustainable.

Given that corporate profits are so completely unequal, the corporate CEO's taking more of the profits by nearly 400 CEO dollars, to every employee dollar, and employees have been on a steady decline for decades, at some point you have to realize that while living costs are rising for everyone, in this corporatized faux democracy, faux economy, the Middle Class American worker has been sold out.

And what do the Repiglicans do about it? Increase the take of the billionaires, from the pie, under the pretense that doing so will in turn increase jobs, annd help the economy, in spite of the fact that that is not what we have seen over the decades.

Emergency rooms are filled because our workers are not paid enough to have a roof over their heads, feed their children, buy gas for their autos, and still be able to afford health care. Even those who can afford it, without the AFHCA, lived under the fear of getting sick and being dropped.

Our country cannot sustain the Repiglican Social Engineering of the fascist Reiglican economic philosophies.

America must invest in education, re-buiding our deteriorated and dangerous infrastructure, which would create American jobs, addressing the increased illnesses from pollutants, leading to higher health costs, and which have caused loss of our sea life, partly due to greedy and irresponsible "Cost saving" corporate decisions which led to the Gulf Spill, and other spills, destruction of our aquifer, currently being destroyed, by Fracking, thanks to the Dick Cheney Halliburton loophole, all those things which Repiglicans want to ignore, as they spread around false statistics, lies and protect the very corporatists who buy them for their own profits.

One would think, that any Christian, woud be up in arms over the destruction of our very planet, but instead, these Repiglican liars, want to do away with every government protection of our health ad our planet.

Yet, you say you care about the beautiful Gulf, while you vote for the Party which has held back environmental protections, cleaner fuels, safer food and water.

You're hopeless!

Health Care costs ARE the subject.
