For the O-cult, they can find comfort that the demographic of leftist tea party haters living in midwest suburbia who are between ages 50 and 64 that are non white with some college earning over $50K per year might oppose this by a razor thin margin.

LOL! Of course it polls well-- how do you think the GOP comes up with this crap? They go to Frank Luntz and his ilk and find out what polls great.

Same with the Contract for America, although Luntz fudged his polling questions so badly that he refused at first to let anyone see the questions, and then got professionally sanctioned for his misrepresentations in that matter.

Ask the American people if they want to eat a lot of ice cream and not gain weight, and the polls would look like this as well. The problem is that isn't possible, however much people like the idea.

But sure, ask them if they want to balance the budget or begin to cut the debt, or hell let's go all the way, ELIMINATE all the debt, WITHOUT RAISING TAXES, or SPENDING MORE THAN 18 or 19%. Of course they'll say yes.

An average person has no idea why every one of the parts of CCB are bad ideas. They evidently have no idea how impossible it will be to REDUCE the debt, or what anything that began to get even close to closing the deficit would mean in terms of this country's general welfare.

The debt must go up, and therefore will go up. I doubt any cutting of entitlements short of canceling them all together can change that fact.

And don't forget, the American people were just as adamant on no cuts to MC and SS as they were on this one. They don't know the contradiction in positions, but it wouldn't take long to figure it out once anything like this CCB is put into law and implemented.
