Crabby old rust sandwich John McCain took to the Senate floor today to lambast the dead-ender Tea Partiers in his own political party's House wing, who have been meeting Speaker Boehner's final debt ceiling offer with some resistance. What a saint! Let's just forget the last couple of years of McCain, now that he has criticized the extremely criticizable House Republicans.

McCain quotes this morning's Wall Street Journal editorial which, similarly, has decided today to turn on House Republicans for their intransigence after years of goading them on at every opportunity. It reads:

<span style="color: #990000">But what none of these critics have is an alternative strategy for achieving anything nearly as fiscally or politically beneficial as Mr. Boehner's plan. The idea seems to be that if the House GOP refuses to raise the debt ceiling, a default crisis or gradual government shutdown will ensue, and the public will turn en masse against . . . Barack Obama. The Republican House that failed to raise the debt ceiling would somehow escape all blame. Then Democrats would have no choice but to pass a balanced-budget amendment and reform entitlements, and the tea-party Hobbits could return to Middle Earth having defeated Mordor.

Basic irrational policy making 101.

Another unprecedented RW obstructionist, un-Constitutional policy, blocking raising the debt ceiling.

They just can't destroy the country fast enough! Flyover idiots!
But we knew they were completely irrational all along, particularly when they were trying to say the President owns this economic mess completely created by Repiglican policies.

Yeah, President Obama spent some money, 7% of our current debt was money spent to divert Bush's Depression!

All of the rest came from Bush and the Blank check Repiglicans! Some people here are so stupid they don't understand, or refuse to acknowlege that the Bush policies are still adding to the deficit, particularly in the form of the interest on the unprecedented borrowing Bush and Repigs were fine with running up, back when they were telling us, "The deficits don't matter, Reagan proved that."

Yeah, right!

Just trying to get out of the two wars Bush left still raging in his wake, and dealing with his irrational tax cuts, was enough to sink us, even before his "Look the other way" "Ownership Society" Wall St. Ponzi Scheme stole a third of the nations wealth, and the coosts of Bush's TARP, with no strings attached.

<span style='font-size: 20pt'>Repiglican economic Policies in a nutshell!

A random tangent line of comment, there.

Whatever one may think of Gawker, that McCain said exactly this is not in any doubt at all. It has been played on video. If you think it is, and the quote isn't right, please explain.

Otherwise, your ad hominem/attack the messenger is deflection, and not particularly good deflection at that.

I can see your point ... but deflection was not the intent.

To show the low levels the far left will go to in search of data was.

So basically what you are praising is a man who was unwilling to stick to his guns on policy that meant the most. McCain is looking for fellow Reps who are willing to give in when the going gets tough. The Tea Party members are proving (at least for now) that they are sticking to their guns. Time will tell.

The tea Party is proving they are willing to use political extortion to get their way, even when it will negatively impact the global economy, not to mention our economy, so they an take the already failed Repiglican economic policies, to extremism, and block the recovery.

This is no time for austerity! this is the time for investing in building the economy back up, and Job creation!

The left predicted that the stimulus was not large enough, and should have been far greater, in order to re-charge the economy.

Repiglicans blocked a larger stimulus, hence, higher unemployment than we would have had if we had invested more in job creation, to stimulate the economy.

Repiglicans are not focused on Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, like they promised, only on their austerity programs, mostly designed to hurt the least abloe to survive the results of Bush's crashed economy, so they are forcing, extoroting, an extremist policy of focus on deficits, which will do NOTHING to stimulate jobs.

They are pushing us toward a slower recovery, and we will end up just like Japan, because of it. A slower recovery, stagnation, higher unemployment, then they'll blame it all on the other guys.

The fact is, we need to spend more right now, invest more in job creation, not less.

Look at Germany! They're are investing, and their growth proves they are making the right decisions.

Political extortion, by a bunch of intellectual lightweights, who are willing to destroy our credit, to get their way, is unconscionable!

Boehner, McConnell, Cantor, all of them only interested in slowing the recovery, so they can use it against the President in the next election.

At least some of the dummies in America, will wake up to what the Repiglicans have proven to all, that they do not care about the old, the hungry, the poor, the Middle Class, or America's economic growth and stability, only about their assbackwards economic ideologies, that have always failed, and maintaing their ridiculous spending on the rich.

Subsidies, and loopholes, ARE SPENDING Programs!

Tax cuts for peple who don't need them, and already have everyhthing they want or need, multi billionaires and multi millionaires, ARE SPENDING Programs!

Tax cuts for hedge funders, do not create jobs.

Repiglicans want to keep on doing the same things that put us into the debt ditch. Lower regulations, and more Tax cuts, that do not create jobs, if they did, we'd have seen thatin eight years of Bush.

NOTHING trickled down, obviously. Jobs did NOT expand, obviously. Trickle Down always fails.

We just saw that program, for eight years of Bush! It failed miserably.

I don't agree. It is political extortion when a group of nitwits threaten to destroy the U.S. credit rating, and hurt the global economy, while in the midst of a slow recovery, proving they are willing to have our interest rates go up, and possibly send the global economy into a tail spin, if they don't get everything their way.

They are only a third of a third of our government, and they have forced not only the few moderate Repligcans left, but everyone, to sign onto policies which will hurt the recovery, in order to avoid their threats to bring it all down.

Even a one percent raise in interest rates, would be devastating to the economy right now.

Recall Japan, austerity on steroids, then take a look at Germany, doing better than anny other country. Why? Because they were smart enough to know when to spend, and when to cut back on spending.

Vigorous cut backs right now, are the wrong policy.

The president did get some very important agreements from Boehner, but gave the exxtortionists far too much, IMO.

Their's are just the usual uninformed parroting of Fux Noise lie du jour, twisted propaganda.
