You’re buying equipment and parts from suppliers in Florida and New Mexico and Ohio and Wisconsin, all across America.” <span style='font-size: 11pt'><span style="color: #3333FF">To build coal powered cars ... on top of a policy to kill the US coal industry. Stupidonomics rides again.</span></span>

The economic stimulus, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, provided $2.4 billion in grants to advanced vehicle batteries technology. From that amount, $300 million in grants went to Johnson Controls to manufacture batteries. <span style='font-size: 11pt'><span style="color: #3333FF">For coal powered cars.</span></span>

According to the White House, thus far the firm has added 150 jobs because of the grant. That means the government spent about $2 million per job, but only if no more jobs are added. <span style='font-size: 11pt'><span style="color: #3333FF">In a 40 year career, that's about what they will earn in total.</span></span>

Some in the crowd at the factory held up signs, one saying, “Thank you for the jobs,” and another saying, “Hang tough, you’re right.” Michigan has a 10.5 percent unemployment rate, among the highest in the nation, and could be a contested state in the 2012 presidential race.

Obama reminded the workers that the government made the jobs possible. <span style='font-size: 11pt'><span style="color: #3333FF">State dependency ... good, self reliance ... bad.</span></span>

“What made this possible? The most important part is you,” said Obama. “Your drive, your work ethic, your ingenuity, your management, the grit and optimism that says we’ve got an idea for a new battery technology or a new manufacturing process and we’re going to take that leap. But what also made this possible are the actions that we took together as a nation through our government.”

Johnson Controls planned a total $600 million investment in battery manufacturing. The federal grant allowed the company to open the plant in Holland, Mich., with plans for opening another plant near Toledo, Ohio.

The administration plans to create incentives for consumers to purchase electric vehicles, fuel cell cars, plug-in hybrids vehicles and incentives for manufacturers to make and market the products, the White House announced before Obama spoke. <span style='font-size: 11pt'><span style="color: #3333FF">If they are worthy, why does the state need to pay people to buy them? Aren't leftists supposed to be against corporate welfare? What's that? It's not fascism when Obama does it? Imagine that.</span></span>

The Obama administration announced this week new fuel-efficiency standards for trucks and buses built in 2014 through 2018 to reduce oil consumption from a projected 530 million barrels of carbon emissions by 270 million metric tons. <span style='font-size: 11pt'><span style="color: #3333FF">Media deception, implying that it cuts pollution by over half when the net pollution will increase.</span></span>

By 2018, the new standards are supposed to reduce emissions by 20 percent for big rigs and semi trucks, 15 percent for pick-up trucks and 10 percent for vehicles such as garbage trucks and school buses.

By 2014, capacity to build batteries will be three times greater than the demand, the Washington Post reported. <span style='font-size: 11pt'><span style="color: #3333FF">As expected, stupidonomics dictates that we have over capacity to build what the market doesn't want ... how else could we justify gubmint subsidies for companies beholden to the state? Textbook economic fascism.</span></span>

The General Motors Chevrolet Volt electric vehicle, priced at about $40,000, sold just 125 models <span style='font-size: 11pt'><span style="color: #3333FF">Wrap your heads around that number. The old GM would cancel models ... other than the Vette ... that didn't sell at least 3,000 units a month. The coal powered wonder car ... they should have named it the "ALGORE" ... can't cover 5% of that with a $7,500.00 gubmint subsidy per unit to the consumer and billions in gubmint subsidy to the builder and suppliers.</span></span> in July, according to Market Watch. Though the $7,500 tax credit for the car reduced the price, less expensive cars are still selling better, according to Market Watch.

The Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry said, “GM is at least one generation behind Toyota on advanced, ‘green’ powertrain development. In an attempt to leapfrog Toyota, GM has devoted significant resources to the Chevy Volt. While the Volt holds promise, it is currently projected to be much more expensive than its gasoline-fueled peers and will likely need substantial reductions in manufacturing cost in order to become commercially viable.” <span style='font-size: 11pt'><span style="color: #3333FF">That's newspeak for "AN ABOMINABLE FAILURE DUE TO GUBMINT STUPIDONOMIC POLICIES."</span></span></div></div>

".....Our 154,000 employees create quality products, services and solutions to optimize energy and operational efficiencies of buildings; lead-acid automotive batteries and advanced batteries for hybrid and electric vehicles; and interior systems for automobiles....."

The grant created somewhere tween zero and 154000 jobs.

Building an Advanced Battery Industry
Johnson Controls, through our joint venture Johnson Controls-Saft, is a leading supplier of hybrid and electric battery systems that make vehicles more energy efficient. In 2009, Johnson Controls received a $299.2 million grant – the largest grant awarded – from the United States Department of Energy under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to build domestic manufacturing capacity for advanced batteries for electric drive vehicles. The grant will help to build a U.S. advanced battery industry that allows for long-term growth, new jobs, and global leadership in the development and manufacture of today’s hybrids, as well as future technologies like plug-ins and all-electric vehicles.

Also in 2009, we announced that our joint venture Johnson Controls-Saft received incentives adding up to $168.5 million from the State of Michigan for the establishment of a U.S. manufacturing facility for lithium-ion cells and complete hybrid battery systems. We are building this facility in Holland, Michigan, using an existing Johnson Controls Automotive Experience facility. The State of Michigan incentives complement the grant we received from the Department of Energy.

Our planned investment in our first U.S. lithium-ion manufacturing plant illustrates our global leadership in the developing hybrid industry. We will continue to develop relationships around the world and will develop a manufacturing footprint to support our global customers’ needs. We will also continue to make appropriate investments in our existing operations in Milwaukee, Hannover, Nersac and Shanghai.
