SUBIC - Filipino ace Francisco "Django" Bustamante mastered compatriot Efren "Bata" Reyes, 5-4, 5-1, to sweep the eliminations Thursday night of the Cafe Puro Challenge of the Masters at the Subic Yacht Club here.
Bustamante used his awesome break prowess in order to beat Reyes and post his third straight win in this tournament which has attracted large crowd in this exclusive club offering a wonderful view of the Subic Bay. With the win, Bustamante, who placed second to American Earl Strickland in the recent World Pool championship in Cardiff, Wales, will meet Finland's Mika Immonen in Friday's crossover semis.

Earlier, former US Open titleholder Corey Deuel barged into the winning column after two consecutive losses by downing former World Pool titleholder Immonen, 5-1 5-4.

Deuel tackles Reyes in the other half of the semis. Both winners will also advance in Friday's finals with the winner receiving 10,000 dollars and the loser pocketing 7,500 dollars.

Like Reyes, Bustamante expressed satisfaction on the crowd support. ''I would like to thank SBMA chair Felicito Payumo and the people of SBMA for their support. This tournament is going to be very memorable due to the hospitality being displayed by the hosts," he said.
