<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">WASHINGTON - A top aide to President Obama says Americans must decide for themselves how to be civil with each other - a rather sharp departure from comments that Obama has himself made in the past.

In an interview with WMAL's Morning Majority program Wednesday, White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said the Obama Administration is not going to be drawn into the "gotcha game" of reacting to comments made by Teamsters President James Hoffa, Jr. At a Labor Day rally in Detroit, <span style='font-size: 11pt'>Hoffa urged the President to use unions as his army to fight back against the Tea Party and "take these son-of-a-bitches out."</span>

Pfeiffer told WMAL that President Obama is not going to "serve as the speech police for the democratic party. "
"What everyone should do is make their best judgment of how they be civil," said Pfeiffer. "What I don't think makes sense is to distract from the major issues at hand to try to get everyone to go back and approve and disapprove of every single thing that every single person has said," he added.

Pfeiffer's comments on WMAL came a day after White House spokesman Jay Carney declined to say whether Obama thought Hoffa's comments were appropriate, and they seem far removed from comments the President himnself made on the issue of civility in politics earlier this year.

In January, days after the Tuscon shootings in which six people were killed and 14 wounded, including Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Obama urged Americans to find better ways to communicate with each other.

<span style='font-size: 14pt'>“At a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized, at a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who think differently than we do,” the President said at the time. “It’s important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds,”</span> he said.

Still speaking of the shootings, Obama said, "If this tragedy prompts reflection and debate, as it should, let’s make sure it’s worthy of those we have lost,” Mr. Obama said. “Let’s make sure it’s not on the usual plane of politics and point scoring and pettiness that drifts away with the next news cycle.”

On the issue of James Hoffa, Jr. and the Tea Party, it appears the "next news cycle" can't come soon enough for the White House. </div></div>

No, I'm unfortunately not surprised at all to find you comparing Obama to Hitler (again), and once again, hitting a new low even for yourself in cheap shot artistry.

LOOK! They BOTH have two arms, and were photographed once in a similar pose! They BOTH wear a lapel pin!!! And look at that tattersall Nazi-style shirt on the president!?!?! All the proof a weak-minded person could ever need!

Are you that weak-minded, LWW? Or do you just assume your 'audience' is?

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Timeline Of A Right-Wing Media Smear: Hoffa's Call To Vote Became "A Call For Violence"
September 06, 2011 4:39 pm ET — 22 Comments
After Fox News aired a doctored version of Teamsters president James Hoffa's Labor Day speech, the right-wing media pointed to the clearly edited video to accuse Hoffa of encouraging violence against conservatives. In fact, unaltered video -- video aired by Fox hours after the clearly edited version had been heavily promoted throughout the conservative media -- shows that Hoffa was encouraging the crowd to vote against Republicans in the 2012 election.

Hoffa Used Labor Day Address To Emphasize The Need To Vote
Hoffa: "Everybody Here's Got To Vote ... Let's Take These Son Of A Bitches Out And Give America Back To America Where We Belong." During a Labor Day event in Detroit, Michigan, Teamsters president James P. Hoffa said [emphasis added]:

We gotta keep an eye on the battle that we face: the war on workers. And you see it everywhere. It is the tea party. And you know, there is only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is, we like a good fight. And you know what? They got a war. They got a war with us, and there is only going to be one winner. It's going to be the workers of Michigan and America. We're going to win that war. [...]

President Obama this is your army. We are ready to march. And president Obama we want one thing: jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs. That what we're going to tell him. He's going to be - and when he sees what we're doing here he will be inspired. But he needs help and you know what? Everybody here's got to vote. If we go back and we keep the eye on the prize, let's take these son of a bitches out and give America back to America where we belong! Thank you very much! [ABCNews.com, 9/5/11]

How Fox News Helped Turn Hoffa's Call To Vote Into A Violent Threat Against ConservativesDrudge: "Jimmy Hoffa: 'President Obama, This Is Your Army. We Are Ready To March. Let's Take These Son Of Bitches Out." At 12:36 p.m. ET on September 5, a Drudge Report headline excised Hoffa's comments:

[The Drudge Report, 9/5/11]

Fox's Henry: Hoffa "Said Of The Tea Party And Of Republicans, Quote: 'Let's Take These Sons Of Bitches Out.' " At 1 p.m. ET, September 5, Fox News reported on Hoffa's comments. Fox News White House correspondent Ed Henry reported:

HENRY: The Teamsters president, Jimmy Hoffa Jr. [sic], was speaking a couple of moments ago and saying, "We'll remember in November who's with the working people." He was chiding Republicans, specifically named the tea party, and then his language got a lot stronger. And pardon my language as I repeat it, but he said of the tea party and Republicans, quote: "Let's take these sons of bitches out." It got some cheers from this crowd here in Detroit. [Fox News, America Live, 9/5/11]

Fox Then Aired Clearly Edited Video Of Hoffa's Comments. Approximately 20 minutes after Henry's initial report on Hoffa's comments, Fox News' Megyn Kelly reported that Hoffa had issued "a pretty harsh attack on the tea party and Republicans. Here's some of that now." Fox News then aired a clearly edited version of Hoffa's speech:

HOFFA: We gotta keep an eye on the battle that we face: a war on workers. And you see it everywhere, it is the Tea Party. And you know, there's only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what, they got a war, they got a war with us, and there's only gonna be one winner. It's gonna be the workers of Michigan and America. We're gonna win that war.

[...]

HOFFA: President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march.

[...]

HOFFA: Let's take these son of a bitches out and give America back to America where we belong! Thank you very much! [Fox News, America Live, 9/5/11]

Blakeman: "I Think It's Thuggery At Its Best." After she aired the clearly edited version of Hoffa's remarks, Kelly asked Republican consultant Brad Blakeman to respond. He said, "I think it's thuggery at its best" and "these are the kind of remarks you'd expect out of Tony Soprano, not a union president." Blakeman further said: "When a union president says, 'let's take these son of a bitches out,' it usually means somebody's legs are going to get broken, somebody's going to disappear." [Fox News, America Live, 9/5/11]

Fox's Henry: "Full Quote, Jimmy Hoffa Jr: 'Everybody Here's Got To Vote. If We Go Back & Keep The Eye On The Prize, Let's Take These Sons Of Bitches Out." At 1:26 p.m. ET -- approximately the same time Kelly was delivering her report that included the clearly edited video of Hoffa's comments -- Henry posted what he called Hoffa's full quote on his Twitter feed:

[Twitter, 9/5/11]

Dana Loesch: Hoffa Issued A "Call Of Violence Against Americans." Minutes after the doctored video of Hoffa's speech aired on Fox News, CNN contributor and editor of Andrew Breitbart's Big Journalism site Dana Loesch characterized Hoffa's comments as "the call of violence against Americans by union thugs." [Media Matters, 9/5/11]

Real Clear Politics Used Doctored Fox Video To Claim: "Hoffa Threatens GOP At Obama Event." The website Real Clear Politics posted Fox's doctored video of Hoffa's comments with the headline: "Hoffa Threatens GOP At Obama Event: 'Take These Son Of Bitches Out'." [RealClearPolitics, 9/5/11]

Drudge Report Linked To Doctored Fox Video. The Drudge Report later added a link to its initial headline, which directed readers to the Real Clear Politics post that included Fox's doctored video. [Drudge Report, 9/5/11]

Big Government Posted Altered Video, Criticized Obama. At 11:08 a.m. (presumably Pacific Time as Breitbart sites are based in Los Angeles), Big Government posted the edited Fox News video under the headline: "Obama Declares He's 'Proud' of Hoffa -- After Hoffa Declares 'War' on Tea Party 'Sons-Of-Bitches'." [Big Government, 9/5/11]

Big Journalism Posted Doctored Video, Claimed Hoffa "Threatens Tea Party." At 11:09 a.m. PT, Big Journalism also posted the doctored Fox News video with the headline: "Union Boss Intros Obama in Detroit, Threatens Tea Party 'Let's Take These Sons of Bitches Out'." [Big Journalism, 9/5/11]

Fox News Then Showed Video Of Hoffa Urging People To Vote. At approximately 3 p.m. ET -- after the edited Fox News video had been promoted by right-wing blogs -- Fox News finally aired Hoffa's comments urging people to vote. The full context verified what Henry had reported via Twitter hours earlier -- that Hoffa was simply emphasizing the need to vote:

HOFFA: Everybody here's got to vote. If we go back and we keep the eye on the prize, let's take these son of a bitches out and give America back to America where we belong! Thank you very much! [Fox News, Fox Report, 9/5/11]

Hot Air Also Used Doctored Video Of Hoffa. Hot Air blogger Allahpundit posted the doctored Fox video of Hoffa's speech and wrote that Hoffa was "threatening his political enemies while a union-stooge Democratic leader sits by and smiles." [Hot Air, 9/5/11]

Gateway Pundit Used Doctored Hoffa Speech. Right-wing blogger Jim Hoft posted Fox News' edited video and wrote: "Jimmy Hoffa took his attacks on the tea party to a whole new level today during his Labor Day speech." [Gateway Pundit, 9/5/11]

The Five Doctored Speech And Said Hoffa "Essentially Declared War On The Tea Party." At 5 p.m. ET -- two hours after Fox News aired Hoffa's full statement urging people to vote -- Fox News' The Five again broadcast a clearly edited video of Hoffa's speech that did not include his comment that "everybody here's got to vote." Co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle said that Hoffa "essentially declared war on the Tea Party." [Fox News, The Five, 9/5/11]

Fox's Palin Called Hoffa's Speech "Thuggery." In a Facebook message posted at 2:50 a.m. on September 6, Fox News contributor Sarah Palin urged union members to not be "taken in by union bosses' thuggery like Jim Hoffa represented yesterday." [Facebook, 9/6/11]

Beck Claimed Hoffa Was "Inciting Violence" During Speech. Glenn Beck aired a doctored audio version of Hoffa's speech but left out his call to vote out Republicans and forwarded the fabrication that Hoffa was "inciting violence" against conservatives. [Premiere Radio Networks, The Glenn Beck Program, 9/6/11]

RedState: Hoffa "All But Called For" Tea Party Leaders To Be Killed. Citing the doctored Fox News video posted by Real Clear Politics, a RedState blogger wrote that "on Labor Day, James Hoffa all but called for the leadership of The Tea Party Movement to take a nice, refreshing dirt nap in The Meadowlands End Zone." [RedState, 9/6/11]

Limbaugh On Hoffa's Speech: "That's A Call For Violence, Folks." After playing a doctored clip of Hoffa's speech, Rush Limbaugh said: "That's a declaration of war. I mean, that is a come on to violence. That's a call for violence, folks. From Don Hoffa to Barack Obama." [Premiere Radio Networks, The Rush Limbaugh Show, 9/6/11]

To tell you the honest truth ... which I have stated many times here before ... I have no reason to believe that Obama is a genocidal maniac such as Hitler was.

That distinction, however, is where they differ.

Where they are similar is in their economic agenda and their moves to place ever more power under an omnipotent executive branch.

Now, the greatest similarity of all is much scarier than that. That similarity is cult of personality that follows/followed each with a truly possessed fervor.

I do not believe that Obama has it in him to actually send hordes of purple shirts out as Hitler did with the brown shirts. I also do not doubt that if he did ... they would go and the streets would flow with blood.

The reason I keep posting the photos is that we have an evil and malicious cabal in this forum ... many of whom I believe would join in on such wanton violence ... who spent eight years of <span style='font-size: 11pt'>"B-B-B-BOOOOSH E-E-E-EQUALA H-H-H-HITLER!!!!"</span> ... and I know it tweaks them to get a bit of their tactics used back against them.

You, OTOH, I have never seen make even a whimper against such examples ... yet you always always always take offense at anything making humor of dear leader.

LMAO!

There was never an administration that was so thoroughly KNOWN for exceeding executive power, overreaching traditional executive power, as GW Bush and Cheney.

Hundreds of signing statements, refusing to respect the laws, breaking the Geneva Conventions, breaking the FISA laws, outing a covert agent, illegally spying on Americans, lying the country into A WAR Of Choice, Cherry picking intelligence, hiding the costs of the wars, Fear Mongering the country after 9/11, lie after lie after lie.

He's a waste of time, has no honor, at all!

Hoffa's Full Statement:

I have never seen the quotes you cited. I'm a little new around here.

However, if you want 'cult of personality,' there certainly is one around St. Reagan, and for a while, around W. Just as there was one around Gingrich in his heyday, a little around Paul Ryan, a larger one around former Gov. Palin, and etc.

It's true that some of the critics' linking of W to Hitler went too far. For instance, Hitler allowed the Red Cross to visit and inspect the concentration camps. W kept them out of Gitmo and other US facilities. So, very different in some respects. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

Why can't you just tell the truth?

RED CROSS VISITS GITMO IN2004 (http://www.nytimes.com/2004/11/30/politics/30gitmo.html)

RED CROSS VISITS GUANTANAMO IN 2006 (http://www.nybooks.com/media/doc/2010/04/22/icrc-report.pdf)

HITLER DID ALLOW (http://www.scrapbookpages.com/czechrepublic/theresienstadt/theresienstadtghetto/history/redcrossvisit.html) one visit by the RED CROSS to a concentration camp.

It lasted 6 hours.

The Nazis spent 6 months and 10 days beautifying the camp prior to the visit.

The boxcars of Jews began arriving again as soon as the RC left.

The Jews were hand picked for trustworthiness and family members were held and threatened if any truth reached the RC.

The RC inspectors were escorted by SS officials the entire time.

This is low even by your standards ... and I find is sickly humorous that you deny rampant BUSH = HITLER remarks in the forum by presenting an argument that Bush was worse than Hitler.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">The Nazis allowed the Red Cross to visit all their camps, even Auschwitz-Birkenau. The Red Cross inspectors failed to notice the gas chambers. Even before the famous Red Cross visit to Theresienstadt on June 23, 1944, the Germans had been honoring the 1929 Geneva Convention which required them to allow the Red Cross to provide packages to the concentration camps.

The Red Cross was aware of the Nazi concentration camps from the very beginning of World War II, and they began sending packages to the inmates of the major camps, starting in August 1942; by February 1943 the Red Cross was sending packages to all the Nazi concentration camps.

From the Autumn of 1943 to May 1945, the Red Cross distributed 1,112,000 packages containing 4,500 tons of food to the Nazi concentration camps, including the Theresienstadt ghetto and the Auschwitz death camp. In addition, the Nazis allowed packages to be sent to the concentration camp prisoners from friends and relatives outside the camps.

[...]

After World War II ended, General Dwight Eisenhower signed a one-sentence order on August 4, 1945 which read “Effective immediately all members of the German forces held in US custody in the American zone of occupation in GERMANY will be considered as disarmed enemy forces and not as having the status of prisoners of war.” The DEF status meant that the German soldiers who had surrendered would not be entitled to protection under the Geneva convention: no Red Cross inspections were allowed in the US prison camps after the war and Red Cross parcels for the defeated Germans were banned by the US War Department. German civilians were forbidden to send packages to the German Disarmed Enemy Forces, and Red Cross packages, that were sent to the prisoners, were returned by the Americans.</div></div>

Link (http://furtherglory.wordpress.com/2010/03/20/theresienstadt-survivor-tells-british-school-children-about-red-cross-visit/)

I have read that by Ike's order, German prisoners held in outdoor fields without facilities starved and froze to death, as the Red Cross packages and the German peoples' packages of food for them were turned away.

As for the Red Cross visits to Gitmo, yes they occurred, and I was wrong to say they never occurred. However as one of the linked reports complained, they got to see 14 of the 15 high value detainees for the first time only as of '06, years after the IRC had raised their whereabouts, conditions and treatment as an issue. They, like many others, were held where Red Cross inspections were not allowed, prior to their being brought to Gitmo.
