The far left would howl at the Moon over a sub 40% approval rating being proof of:
- A failed administration.
- The POTUS being an idiot.
- The need for immediate impeachment.
Now, their beloved dear leader has again broken the sub 40% level.

Ridiculous re-write of history.
When W had a huge job approval rating, the far left was all over him in exactly the same way. W did not get below 40% in his first term at all, and yet he was fiercely condemned for his policies (and the tawdry way he was put into office) very early on, which is to say, immediately.
Yes, they may have pointed to when his job approval rating slid into the 40%s and below as when the PEOPLE GENERALLY agreed with their positions, and few were disagreeing. But they didn't need it to prove their position, which they were certain of quite apart from the population at large opinion.
Moreover, they would not have brayed delight at the 'daily' (running 3-day average) figures, but would have waited, oh, a week, to see if it became at least a weekly figure that the approval rating stayed below the 40%.
