Meet The Press Won't Stop Misinforming On "Obama's Economic Record"
July 10, 2011 2:34 pm ET by Zachary Pleat

Meet The Press moderator David Gregory is still misrepresenting President Obama's economic record.

In June, Meet The Press aired a graphic claiming that "President Obama's Economic Record" consisted of higher unemployment, debt, and gas prices.

During an interview with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner Meet The Press aired a virtually identical graphic minus the line about gas prices, which Gregory called "the chart of the president's economic record":

What these graphics do not show, and what David Gregory did not see fit to mention, is that President Obama's recovery measures have boosted employment by several million jobs, according to several different independent estimates. Furthermore, a March 2010 study in The Wall Street Journal found that 70 percent of economists surveyed said the stimulus "boosted growth and mitigated job losses." As well, analyses have shown that virtually all of the debt added in the last several years are attributable to Bush-era policies and the economic downturn. When Gregory presented this graphic to Geithner, he dismissed it as "a ridiculous table."

What you don't see fit to mention is the fact that a very small portion of these jobs were sustaining and the majority were only temporary. Again, our economy is going backwards and that is because the stimulus was a failure.

You didn't read the whole thing, as usual.

No, not at all. We were coming out of it quite well, before Repiglicans got the majority back, and it's been all down hill since then, as I knew it would be.

This is still Goerge Bush's bad economy, remember, the one that virtually every single economist of note, said would be a long hard haul back to prosterity?

Just one of many of Bush's disastrous messes he left in his wake!

All of them ahppened on Bush's watch, and all of them after unprecedented warnings, which he totally IGNORED!

8 1 David Gregory
I'd forgotten (stopped watching MTP after Russert helped sell the Iraq War)what a complete and utter douchnozzle David was.
Ol' Stretch is still out there on the airwaves sniffing GOP butt and acting like the kid in school who raises his hand to ask the Teach for more homework. Remember his laughable assertion a few years back that it "wasn't his job" to ask politicians the hard questions? (Must find that link...)
We're so doomed.

The Republicans have done nothing to interfere with The Moron's agenda. The apparent slowing is the consequence of running our of stimulus money but even given the accuracy of the administration's job creation figures, they were only temporary and cost nearly $250,000/job, a failure anyone's standards, even lefty David Gregory's. But the cost is actually much higher because the The Moron's numbers are sheer fantasy.

Yeah, he's been a pig in sheeps clothing all along, couldn't get his nose far enough up Rove's ass, just like Novak.

If you'd see them out lunching, Rove and Gregory, or Rove and Novak, you'd swear they were sharing a lot more than just lunch, if you know what I mean.

You are out of your mind.

They aren't the president's numbers, you jerk! The CBO is independent. Even the Wall St. Journal, has numbers of their own, which are right in line with the CBO's.

We aren't losing seven to eight hundred thousand jobs a month, either, like we were during Bush's last months.

Irrational as you are about everything, why would I expect anything rational from you about economics.

Gregory isn't a leftie, either, BTW, he's as far right as they get!

Can't believe you live so near to Washington, and know so little about everythhing. You must never go anywhere, if you think Gregory is a leftie!

Once again showing your total ignorance of the facts.

In his campaign, Obama showed the need for a Public Option to solve the HC cost problem.

Where is it?

He said 'we need to solve the too big to fail problem', but its only got worse.

Obama wanted a far bigger stimulus but the GOP fought him down.

Until this year, the Republicans didn't have the votes to do anything to stop the Dems agenda and since then, The Moron hasn't proposed anything substantial that has been blocked.

Yes, it is a given the The Moron inherited a bad economic situation but he must be judged by what he has done to solve the problems and on that count, he has done all the wrong things and that is exactly why we are now facing years and years of recession/depression instead of the normal recovery that follows recessions. The Moron followed the same prescription that FDR followed and we are getting the same results...as many of us warned.

Yes, the job loss was eased through very expensive spending but we are now facing unsustainable spending and debt without any signs of recovery and in danger of the dreaded double-dip. It was The Moron's policies that put us here and his only response is more of the same.

Wht a crock of Bull!

They have blocked everything, how the hell do you account for them blocking even appointments to National Security positions, raising the debt limit, funding for our Veterans, funding for hurricane victims, policies that came from their own side of the isle.

We'd be humming along rather well, by now, had they not suddenly turned into Fiscal Conservatives, after six years of spending ut into a massive debt hole, on lies and fear mongering, and broken the Earmark record, and giving Bush a blank check!

You're so far out there it would take a super launch from Cape Canaveral, to reign you in.

Only a moron would expect a Normal Recovery time, from Bush's Brink of the worst Depression in history, after six years of unprecedented spending, borrowing, cutting taxes, launching trillion dollar prescription drug big pharma pay offs, and ignoring regulatory fraud, Wall St. fraud, ignoring wraning after warning, and failing to pay for anything.

Bush's policies and his spending and borrowing are still the bulk of our debts. His two wars are still costing us billions upon billions to get out of, with dignity and honor.

No president ever inherited such a huge mess, As this president, except for Roosevelt, who came in behind another Free Market nutjob, who refused to invest in a job recovery....

Only a moron would refuse to acknowledge that.

Just like only a moron would claim to be a strict Constitutionalist, while praising a murderer as a hero, for ignoring Constitutional law, is a coward and a killer, who hides in the bushes and kills people for exercising their Constitutional rights.
