GOP presidential front runner and secession enthusiast Gov. Rick Perry (TX) touts the primacy of state control and <u>often points back to his reign over the state of Texas as proof of its efficacy.</u> Of course, under Perry, Texas has a <span style='font-size: 14pt'>plummeting employment-to-population ratio, the highest rate of uninsured residents, the greatest number of executions, the highest pollution rate, and a derth of well-paying jobs.</span>

On education, Perry offers the same message: “I don’t think the federal government has a role.” In rebuking the Obama administration’s Race to the Top education funds, Perry said it “smacks of federal takeover of public schools” and “could very well lead to the ‘dumbing down’ of the rigorous standards we’ve worked so hard to enact.” Once again, Texas tells a different story. Perry’s education “standards” — exemplified by $4 billion in budget cuts to education for the upcoming budget cycle — will force schools to lay off as many as 49,000 teachers and will leave at least 43,000 college students without financial aid:

Faced with a <u>$15 billion budget deficit this year,</u> Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed off on $4 billion in cuts to education in the 2012 and 2013 budgets. The Texas State Teachers Association estimates that as many as 49,000 teachers may be laid off as a result of the cuts and 43,000 college students will lose all or part of their financial aid.

<span style='font-size: 14pt'>Indeed, scholarships for 29,000 low-income college students will be <u>completely eliminated.</u></span> </div></div>

Here is another little nugget.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"><span style='font-size: 17pt'>Last year, <span style="color: #3333FF">Texas ranked dead last in the percentage of adults with high school diplomas.</span> That same year, Texas ranked very low among states for spending per student in public school.</span> If Perry wants to continue to point to a state to prove his efficacy, he may have to pick one other than Texas. </div></div>

Now I know how he got elected.

No one ever made that statement on this forum, Ed, so if you're trying to suggest that we are for any job losses, at all, you're lying.

You always try to conflate one main point of any given post, into a different statement, or belief, altogether.

You fool no one with those kinds of juvenile tactics.

For example, President Obama, didn't LIE about his goals for keeping unemployment down to 8% by using stimulus money.

Stating a goal, isn't lying.

Additionally, at that time, no one had a full understanding of how deep the recession actually was, but there were many who stated, very clearly, that we needed to spend at leats 1/4 Trillion dollars, which Repigloicans stated they would block.

Rearranging the facts isn't what adults try to do.

Only those who like to spin a boatload of ****, do that.

Quit being a hypocrite. That is exactly the message you two guys are pushing. If you it is your party laying off government workers in the name of "saving a million dollars" then it is fine but when the person doing it is a Rep then it is bad. Hypocrisy is the best adjective.

Another lie.

You never run out of them, do you?

You might want to go back to the prison layoffs and see how you guys were so excited. The memory is the first thing to go right?

No, you go back. Your memory has been for **** as long as I've been here. No one was excited, at all. In fact, the article was simply posted, without any opinion, originally.

Now, explain how you did a flip flop on practicing abstinence only for birth control!

How many of those fertilized eggs have you murdered, BTW?

Still denying the facts, I see.

Not every single egg, escapes fertilization, as the documentation proves.

There is no fail safe birth control, annd no fail safe IUD.

Women do, and have gotten pregnant, on both.

That coudn't happen, unless some eggs do get fertilized, and are then aborted through the hormonal process of expelling fertilized eggs, by making it difficult for them to attack, AFTER they are fertilized.

How many murders, Ed? Care to give us an estimate?

That would be "Mankind".... one word.

A fertilized Egg, is a fetus, Ed.

According to you, a fetus is a baby.

How many babies, then, have you murdered?

Can't stand to think abut it, Ed?

Perhaps you can go and discuss it with your Men's Christian Group.

Oh wait, I already posted all of the RW Christian views on the subject for you, didn't I!

You want it both ways, one way for you, and another way for everyone else whom you constantly slander on this subject.

You bring this BS up all of the time, did so today, in fact, in that post of Q.'s, about the number of children in this country, who never are adopted, remember? You brought up this BS of yours about MURDER!

Now, that you have been educated about how fertilized Eggs, IOW, <span style='font-size: 20pt'>Fetuses</span>, are expelled from the uterus, you don't want to talk about YOUR own murders, do you? There is no way to count them!

The Egg immediately begins to divide when it is fertilized. At that point, it is a <span style='font-size: 20pt'>FETUS.</span>

The Birth Control Pill is not one hundred percent safe.

Women get pregnant, on the pill.

Not every egg fails to make it to fertilization, hence, fertilized eggs, <span style='font-size: 20pt'>FETUSES, </span> are expelled from the womb, when using Birth Control Pills, like you have used, for birth control.

Same possibilities with IUD's.

Hypocrite!!!!

These definitions are incorrect, which may or may not affect the argument, not sure.

As of FERTILIZATION, there is no fetus, just a blastocyst (although even that is considered fully human and deserving of all protections under the Constitution, by some radicals). Something like 90% of fertilized eggs do not make it to the creation of an actual pregnancy.

If it is to get to a pregnancy, the blastocyst must create the placenta structure, and the EMBRYO, which again is NOT a fetus, and achieve implantation in the uterine lining. The successful implantation then creates the pregnancy's beginning, with powerful hormonal changes.

Should there be a successful implantation, what's been created is known as an EMBRYO for its first 8 weeks of development, at which time it is then only thereafter called a fetus.

So, by definition, methods of birth control that prevent implantation of a fertilized egg are not killing a fetus, nor killing even an embryo, but rather killing a blastocyst. As nature (or God) does on its (His) own all the time, at 90%+ effective rates of destruction, quite apart from human interventions.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Maddow then turned to an effort in Mississippi to redefine "personhood," saying that it begins at "the moment of fertilization" or cloning. She pointed out that many forms of birth control work by stopping the fertilization of an egg, or the implantation of a fertilized egg.

"Does that mean that using birth control is going to be murder in Mississippi?" she asked. Moreover, she said, the mission to redefine "personhood" has spread across the country. <span style='font-size: 14pt'>"The quest for <u>conservative control</u> for every uterus and fallopian tube in America continues!"</span> she quipped.

Maddow speculated that, though Americans love to "vote against each other's rights," banning birth control might be a step too far.
