From the reich wing CBS news:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">WASHINGTON - New documents obtained by CBS News show Attorney General Eric Holder was sent briefings on the controversial Fast and Furious operation as far back as July 2010. That directly contradicts his statement to Congress.

On May 3, 2011, Holder told a Judiciary Committee hearing, "I'm not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks."

Yet internal Justice Department documents show that at least ten months before that hearing, Holder began receiving frequent memos discussing Fast and Furious. </div></div>

The only chanters in the country are from the Left because they are sheep and have no mind of their own, so I doubt you will hear your chant anytime soon. EH is not the problem, The Moron is the problem.

Shorter Holder: "Oh, THAT Fast and Furious?!?! Sure, I knew about that one! I thought you meant the first one! (Whoops, did I say that out loud?)" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif

Well, obviously this means that both Holder and Obama CREATED this program. Hmmm. Not quite. Not enough here to assert that claim is proven or even supported. What appears to be the case if Holder's disclaimers (quoted at the end of this article) are false is that he had knowledge prior to when he said, but the briefing memoes came after the gun walking had already occurred. So far, this doesn't show him knowledgeable BEFORE the project went operational, or as having authored it.

Holder's newest disclaimers will be the subject of Congressional oversight hearings, and whether they stand up to that scrutiny, remains an open question at this time.

As AG Eric Holder is NOT 'dear leader,' you should have referred to my 'slavish' defense of THE REGIME. THE REGIME.

Sorry, the judges won't allow your answer, but thank you for playing.

As the only thing this appears to show is that Holder was briefed in media res, and it may not show that, how does this prove that Holder both knew and authorized the program (before it started)?

You are very over-excitable, and show no judgment.

At what point do you hold the regime responsible?

What's that?

You never will?

But ... I already knew that.

Also, this wasn't the first time such an operation went wrong.

Mounted approximately five years ago out of the Tucson office, Wide Receiver <span style='font-size: 14pt'>may have actually been the template used -with equally inept results- by the now-infamous Phoenix operations.</span>

In Operation Wide Receiver, Tucson agents allowed the sales of more than 500 firearms to known straw purchasers. <span style='font-size: 17pt'>Like Gunrunner/Fast and Furious, the operation apparently backfired. </span></div></div>

What schmuck. LOL, there is a post about an operation that went south and it happened under Obama's watch. It is Obama's responsibility under the same logic our resident nutcases used with Bush. Now when this is coming to light all that schmuck can do is change the subject.

Meanwhile calls for impeachment of Obama are now surfacing for other matters.

If evidence is developed to prove that either Obama or Holder or both knew of this program ahead of time, and signed off on it, complete with the planned tactic of gun-walking, then of course, blame will be due them, and consequences due them as well.

If the gun-walking was a bug in this action program, rather than a feature, and was improvised at a field level without prior knowledge or approval of the tactic, even their earlier knowledge or approval doesn't make them culpable for the operation's going rogue (beyond the stated beginning program parameters of action). However, false statements of 'no approval or knowledge,' if that turns out to be the case, would still be a problem for them, with consequences.

Hint: we do not have anything close to this proof at this time, even if you falsely claim there is.

Here's what AP reports, from yesterday. (http://www.ajc.com/news/nation-world/ap-sources-bush-era-1194310.html)

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> Holder's testimony this year "was consistent and truthful," responded Justice Department spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler. She said Holder became aware of the questionable tactics in early 2011, when ATF agents first raised them publicly. None of the handful of entries in 2010 regarding Fast and Furious suggested there was anything amiss with that investigation requiring leadership to take corrective action or commit to memory this particular operation, Schmaler added.

Federal law enforcement officials familiar with the matter say Operation Wide Receiver began in 2006 after the agency received information about a suspicious purchase of firearms. The investigation concluded in 2007 without any charges being filed.

After Obama took office, the Justice Department reviewed Wide Receiver and discovered that ATF had permitted guns to be transferred to suspected gun traffickers, according to the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the practice is under investigation by Congress and the Justice Department inspector general's office.

[...]

Following the discovery that agents in Tucson let the guns "walk," a tactic which has long been against Justice Department policy, the department under Obama decided to bring charges against those who had come under investigation in 2006.

To date in Wide Receiver, nine people have been charged with making false statements in acquisition of firearms and illicit transfer, shipment or delivery of firearms. Two of the nine defendants have pleaded guilty and a plea hearing is scheduled for Oct. 13 for two other defendants.

Last October, Jason Weinstein, deputy assistant attorney general in the Justice Department's criminal division, raised concerns about investigative methods in Operation Wide Receiver and about the timing of announcing indictments in both Wide Receiver and Fast and Furious.

"It's a tricky case given the number of guns that have walked, but it is a significant set of prosecutions," Weinstein wrote in a Justice Department email turned over to Congress, which released the document.

[...]

The two federal law enforcement officials said Weinstein's language about "a tricky case" referred to Wide Receiver, not Fast and Furious.

In an emailed reply to Weinstein, James Trusty, at the time deputy chief in the gang unit at the Justice Department, said "it's not going to be any big surprise that a bunch of US guns are being used in MX (Mexico), so I'm not sure how much grief we get for 'guns walking.' It may be more like, 'Finally, they're going after people who sent guns down there."

The two law enforcement officials said the language of Trusty's email also refers to the Tucson case, not Fast and Furious.

[...]

Fast and Furious was a response to longstanding criticism of ATF for concentrating on small-time gun violations and failing to attack the kingpins of weapons trafficking.</div></div>
