Everyone is talking about these great Accustat tapes and I'm interested. Does anyone offer pool DVDs?

Go to www.amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com) for Pool movies.
Go to www.accu-stats.com (http://www.accu-stats.com) for tournament tapes (No DVD's).

phil cappelle has a book/video combo coming out analyzing an accustat match between johnny archer and efren reyes, which will be available on DVD!! check out:

www.billiardspress.com (http://www.billiardspress.com)

and click on book/video.

the only other DVD that i am aware of is one produced by lee holdsworth of www.uk-pool.com (http://www.uk-pool.com) which is 2 DVD's of a recent uk 8 ball pro-am event. i haven't seen it but i don't think it was professionally taped, i think lee did the taping. but it is supposed to be a fun thing, i'm getting them myself, but i know alot of the players. lee just finished them and offered them for sale today.

i too am waiting for the day when accu-stats starts offering their stuff on DVD.

JChapman,

I e-mailed Pat Fleming of Accu-stats with this very question a couple of months ago. Accu-stats will be releasing future tournaments on DVD. How many? I can't say. Also, classic matches from the past, like Mike Sigel's 1992 150 and out, will also be released on DVD. I imagine he'll eventually transfer all the best 9-Ball, 8-Ball, 14.1, One-Pocket and 3-Cushion matches to DVD. I suspect the Balkline tape will also go to DVD since it's one of Pat's favorites.

To tell you the truth, I think it's downright appalling that the billiard industry has not jumped all over the DVD format. It offers all kinds of advantages for instructional and tournament video.

Probably the issue is low demand. The customer base for billiards videos is still pretty niche. And some people living in caves still don't own DVD players. /ccboard/images/icons/smile.gif

I emailed the folks at poolvideo.com and plan on emailing other suppliers to indicate my interest in pool DVD's. If potential customers show an interest, the industry may be inclined to move toward DVD.

I checked out Capelle's book/DVD set of the Archer/Reyes match. I am definitely excited about getting it.

Thanks for the info. It's looks like I'm gonna wait around for the Accustat DVDs. I've never seen the VHS videos, but I hear good reviews.

I just got an emailed response from accustats:
"Dear [ludba],

DVD's of Accu-Stats matches should be ready in the first quarter of 2002.
The website will post news as they become available.

Thank you,
Accu-Stats"
