When voters in Ohio's 1st Congressional District threw Democrat Steve Driehaus out of office after only one term, he did not bow out gracefully. No, he decided to get even. So he did what anyone does in today's culture: he sued somebody.

Charging that its activities contributed to his defeat and thus to his "loss of livelihood," Driehaus is suing the Susan B. Anthony List, a group that supports pro-life candidates for Congress and which has been one of the leading and most effective organizations involved in the fight to cut off federal funding to Planned Parenthood.

DON'T THEY REALIZE THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO OPPOSE THE PARTY! (http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/peter-roff/2011/10/24/failed-democrat-pol-sues-critics-over-election-loss)

Driehaus voted for the health care bill that passed the House in November, and he supports the concept of health care reform, saying there are many good things that this bill would do, such as close a gap in Medicare prescription drug coverage for seniors.

But Driehaus says the version of the bill awaiting the House vote doesn't adequately ensure that federal money isn't used to pay for elective abortions.

"Rarely are issues black and white," Driehaus said Friday, explaining that while he's under immense pressure to vote for the bill, it's also an example of "some of the tough decisions that legislators are faced with."

Driehaus, a freshman Ohio congressman, announced Friday that he was filing a defamation lawsuit against the conservative organization in federal District Court for attacks during the campaign accusing him of supporting taxpayer-funded abortions because he voted for the health care bill...

"I have chosen to proceed against the SBA List in federal court because the issue at stake goes beyond the purview of the Ohio Elections Commission," Driehaus said in a statement. "As more and more interests are able to anonymously spend unlimited sums of money in attempts to defame public servants and influence our elections, it is imperative that groups such as the SBA List be held to account for their behavior. Lies have consequences."

Do you actually have an opinion ... other than what was spoon fed to you which you slavishly cut and pasted of course.

Opinions are like a$$holes, everyone's got one. I prefer facts.

The Susan B. Anthony List claimed he was pro-abortion simply because he voted for the ACA. He was not. He even had a meeting with the President because he was concerned about some provisions.

Anyway, this is all about..

Would qtip support a defamation lawsuit from Cain? qtip highlighted the line that states "lies have consequences".

He never does. He thinks that bolding and highlighting someone else's thoughts is the same as him offering his own opinions. It really is sad that at this stage in his life he has been reduced to being a mute and allowing others to talk for him.

LOL

YOU think YOUR OPINIONS transcend the truth! Once you believe something, no amount of actual factual info - not the crap you get from Boortz - can change your mind.

As usual, LWW's post was misleading. All I did was present some facts and some context in the guy's own words.

If PACS, with their unlimited anonymous contributions, can run attack ads that are patently false and get away with it, what hope for America?

What chance of a fair election?

A hilarious question from you, who uses that exact methodology for all your posting! A headline, a lead-in, and then spoon-fed slavish cutting and pasting? That's your modus operandi in chief.

However, I will admit that in this case, the now-former representative has a hard row to hoe, and will likely not prevail under the ruling NY Times v. Sullivan SCOTUS standard.

He is clearly a 'public figure,' and the high court has taken a very firm standard as to the 1st amendment requirement that political speech be protected by a most rigorous standard for libel or slander cases-- actual malice aforethought, which is very hard to prove in court.

You are trying to compare your copy/paste jobs to my actual individual thought. Apples and oranges. Now if you wanted to compare my thoughts with the authors that you copy then you would be getting somewhere but we were talking about you and your consistent effort at never saying anything.
