Hi all.

My name is John, and I recently created a web series about pool league called "8 for Vegas". You can view episodes here (NSFW because of language):

http://www.youtube.com/8forvegas

It was shot at Society Billiards in NYC over the course of about four months.

We plan to release an episode a week, on Fridays.

You can check out other videos and info on the series here:

http://www.8forvegas.com

Or like us on our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/8forvegas

Thanks! I look forward to joining in on some of the conversations here, and also hearing what you thought of the series. All the best,

John

Don't ask me why but I watched.
It sucked even more than I expected and I won't be watching again.

I liked it, thanks. Very different, and definitely very NYC.

"Vanity Publishing" ... really hard to enjoy this.

Might have been easier to watch if the camera man didn't have Parkinson's.

We're not mean. We're just honest.
Can you honestly tell me that you believe the team in this story is really bound for Vegas? All of the pool playing I saw was below the sl-2 level in my APA league. The team members seemed a lot more interested in drinking and getting laid than playing pool, and there is nothing wrong with that, but they wouldn't go to Vegas in any of the leagues I know.

I think it's meant to be entertainment instead of a documentary. I could be wrong as I only saw the promos for it some months ago. I like stuff like this and will check it out over the weekend.

If everyone like vanilla ice cream, it would be a bland world. There are a bunch of "hit" shows on TV that I've never watched and never will. Just sayin.'

@RichR - Sorry if there's been some confusion. This is a mockumentary. While pool league is entertaining, after 15 years in the APA, I found that the people were more entertaining than the pool. I want league players to enjoy this, but I'm also hoping for a larger audience, and anything more than a minute of people shooting pool is going to bore people.

Any league player who's had a 6 hour night can understand this sentiment, I think.

In truth, let's see... John (Seneca) is a 5, Jennifer (Maebe) is a 4, Heather (Michelle) is a 5, and Walter (Drew) is a 3/4. Everyone else is not in the APA, nor do they play pool regularly. I'm a 7, but I don't like to talk about it.

I don't want to give to much away, but to allay your concerns about their abilities... they're acting.

There is no confusion, on my part, and I understand they are acting. I really didn't mean to offend you or this production. You asked for comments and I gave you mine. I honestly didn't think it was good, whether or not it was a drama, satire or whatever label you want to put on it. JMHO.

It's simply a matter of "different strokes for different folks". Don't put too much value in my comments. They are worth exactly what you paid for them and I expect others to disagree with me. Also, your production is not alone. There are many productions on major TV networks that I don't like either.

I initially thought by the description here that it was a behind the scenes look at a team as it pursued it's goal of getting to Vegas. I thought that was a great idea.

However, I'm not sure what this is. It's not a reality show because it's acted. Yet it is set up like a reality show. So, is it an acted series trying to imitate a reality show?

Sorry, I don't get it.

Nice lighting, though.

I watched the first episode yesterday and found it funny. I'll watch the rest of them over the weekend.

For the record, I'm a fan of mockumentaries - ever since This Is Spinal Tap! Loved the Best in Show, too! Fred Willard had me on the floor.

If you can find it, try watching And God Spoke. It's another mockumentary, and it's pretty fantastic. Thanks for the kind words!

John,
Best episode yet! Very funny interplay between the two guys writing the profile, the glances when John was talking about his cats were hysterical! And the sexual tension between John and the girl at the end was very funny and sweet. And very real. Nice job to you and the cast!

John,
I thought that the finale was excellent! I enjoyed the entire series, frankly, and you and the cast should be very proud of what you've accomplished!

Happy New Year!
