This the GOP, you can't trust them.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Obama Warns Super Committee Co-Chairs Not To Change Triggers In Deal

WASHINGTON -- With the deadline fast approaching for the congressional super committee to make its deficit reduction recommendations, President Barack Obama phoned the committee's two co-chairs on Friday to urge swift action.

The White House released a sparse summary of the president's separate phone calls to Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), made from aboard Air Force One. But one detail notably stood out.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> The President also made clear that he will not accept any measure that attempts to turn off part of the sequester. <span style='font-size: 14pt'><u>The sequester was agreed to by both parties to ensure there was a meaningful enforcement mechanism to force a result from the Committee.</u> Congress must not shirk its responsibilities.</span> The American people deserve to have their leaders come together and make the tough choices necessary to live within our means, just as American families do every day in these tough economic times. The President urged the leaders to get this done.</div></div>

There has been a lot of chatter on the Hill about changing the parameters of the trigger currently in place so that the <span style='font-size: 14pt'>cuts to the defense budget</span> -- that would be made a year after the committee fails to reach a deal, should it fail to reach a deal -- <u>would be softened.</u> And the expectation among Democrats is that enough lawmakers within their party <u>would join with Republicans </u>to do just that. </div></div>

Where have we heard this before? The Dems had a deal that the Bush tax cuts would only be for 10 years, how did that work out?

With 67 to 70 % of people in this country, and about that same percentage of even the top wealthiest millionaire and billionaires, saying that we need to expire the Bush Tax cuts, raise taxes on the wealthy, economists all saying cut out corporate loopholes....I can't believe the Repiglicans are still pushing for more tax dollars to be redistributed to the wealthy top one percent, and to the same corporate interests who make us sick, and push their profits through the roof on our backs.

We need to get rid of loopholes and subsidies for corporate interests, and the top two percent, in order to save SS and Medicare, and invest in job producing infrastructure investment, and expanding opportunities for education, instead of tryng to destroy it....giving more and more to the same pigs who have been stealing us blind, and outsourcing jobs.

Instead, they are attacking teachers and firement and policemen, annd THAT isn't class warfare????

I cannot see any big wins for the right coming down the pike. I'm seeing things leaing back toward the left, many others are saying the same thing...we surely saw it with our own eyes, in this last election, big losses for Repiglican policies.

We have too many people being scammed by the Repiglican propaganda machine, and most seniors, aren't computer savvy enough to do the research...and particularly, seniors and uneducated folks in the flyover states, still have their heads full of racist attitudes, anti-Gay, Anti-Women's Rights, and other Religious BS which Repiglicans know exactly how to use to distract them from the facts....
note, I am not saying ALL in the flyover states, but surely a majority of those who seem too stupid to see through Repiglicans, ARE in the Bible Belt....and flyover states,

Repiglicans launched a thirty to forty year class warfare, beginning with RR, against American jobs, agsint regulations, and against the Middle Class, and then they call the fed up victims of their policies, who are finally flooding in the streets to protest...bums who want class warfare.... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

This global network of thieves, have pulled off the biggest global ponzi scheme in history...and we have idiots like Cain out there saying,

"If you don't have a job, don't blame the banks blame yourself?"??!!! And the RW idiots cheer him on?

romney, Perry, Cain, Ron Paul, all of them yapping about deregulation!!!

It's a colossal LIE.

Are Americans really THAT stupid and uneducated?

I want to see a documentary made that tours the mansions of the Romney's, Ryan's, Cantor's and the Ceo's on Wall St., who stole from all of us, with plenty of quotes from GREENSPAN!

Unbelievable!

That's exactly correct, and everyone knows it!

Another of Ed's intentional lies.

A true Republican to the core.

Nothing thrills him more than trying to antagonize people by making outrageous claims and accusations that he knows are not even close to the truth. That's how he gets his kicks. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sleep.gif

A little of both.

Obama did advocate maintaining the Bush tax rate cuts for all income below the top bracket, for all earners. Not only maintaining them, but making them permanent.

That part of the Bush tax cut extension would cost about $3 trillion dollars over a 10 year period, using standard CBO methods of determining these things. The 10 year cost of extending the top bracket would be about $800 billion, by the same method.

Obama was in a bit of an attackable position using logic-- "so YOU SAY 'increasing the debt by $800 billion' is unaffordable, but what YOU ADVOCATE increases the debt by $3 TRILLION? How is $3 trillion extra on the debt unobjectionable, but $3.8 trillion (if the top bracket cut were extended 10 years) is ruinous profligacy?"

Not that there isn't an answer, but it involves details that are a bit nuanced (so many people just won't ever understand it). It is BECAUSE the extension of the tax rate cut for all income below the top bracket costs so much ($3 T), that the EXTRA loss of income/increase of debt of $800 billion becomes unaffordable, excessive, whatever one wishes to say.

</div></div>We both know this to be the truth but qtip and gayle can never admit it. They forget that while Bush was President they blamed him and made him responsible for every little thing that happened. Time and time again they reminded us that Bush was on watch so he should know everything that is happening. Now that it is a Dem in office they have installed their blinders. I am here to shed a little light and show them how ridiculous their logic was back then by giving it back to them now.
