Lyndon Baines Johnson is a racist by Charlotte's definition:

[quote=LWW] <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">"These Negroes, they're getting pretty <span style='font-size: 14pt'>uppity</span> these days and that's a problem for us since they've got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference. For if we don't move at all, then their allies will line up against us and there'll be no way of stopping them, we'll lose the filibuster and there'll be no way of putting a brake on all sorts of wild legislation. It'll be Reconstruction all over again."

Apparently they are admitted racists and proud of it.

Pretty weak here.

Uppity, like references to watermelon and fried chicken, would be a racist or racial insult term, when used about African-Americans. Not about anyone else.

Does that make LBJ's commentary racist? Yes, in my view.

Does that make Q's comment racist? No, it was an ironic jibe, purporting to quote others who were the racists.

Not sure I agree with your evaluation there.
Thats more a stereotype than racism.
Perceiving something as racism and actually being racism are not the same thing.

Is calling an Italian a grease ball racist? Italians are not a race.

Calling an Irishmen a Mic is not racist either.

Calling a Jew a Kike is not racist either. Antisemitic yes. But the Jews are not technically a race.

I would go along with that. What is sometimes called racism is more properly considered ethnic-based stereotyping, or evidence of discriminatory prejudice based on national background.

The use of the traditional slur words most of us know is indeed an attack based on ethnicity, based on prejudice.

Opinions may vary without anyone lying about anything. Being wrong isn't a lie, without a couple of other conditions being met. Opinions may vary without either being wrong, also.

Sofla is stating the exact same view as mine.

As I said, when used referencing African Americans, it is a racist word, always has been.

My understanding was that in the end, Sack and I basically agreed.

You are the one here who can't read, and lies about what others have written.

Why not just stick to speaking for yourself, since you tend to assert often that others agree with you, when they don't, or assert that other's disagree with another, when they don't....when you obviously are wrong not only about the subject matter, but about your attempt to twist what others are saying, and worse, pretend that you can read the minds of others.

Grow Up! You live to antagonize others, never to communicate or debate.

Here is what Sofla told YOU!

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> Opinions may vary without anyone lying about anything. Being wrong isn't a lie, without a couple of other conditions being met. Opinions may vary without either being wrong, also. </div></div>
