Wish there were more interviewers like him!

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips got into a spirited donnybrook with MSNBC host Martin Bashir over Newt Gingrich’s comments about President Obama being the “food stamp president.” Judson told Bashir that Gingrich is succeeding with throwing red meat to the party base.

“Do you include those barely concealed, racially-charged divisive comments about the president being a food stamp’s president?” Bashir fumed. “There’s nothing racial about that, he is a food stamp president,” Judson shot back. “He’s gotten more people on food stamps!”

“That’s untrue. George W. Bush had more people on food stamps!” Bashir exclaimed. “Not this president. That’s a lie.” </div></div>

Q... that's a lie (http://www.mediaite.com/tv/tea-party-activist-dukes-it-out-with-bashir-over-gingrich-food-stamp-comments/)

If you say it correctly, it's true. If you say it wrong, it's a lie.

Which is why the supposed fact checking sites disagree-- depends on the phrasing.

Which president ADDED more persons to food stamps? To date, W (although O's on target to likely beat the number W saw added over his 8 years, as of the end of this, his 4th year).

But which president has had the MOST persons on food stamps? O, by a considerable margin, as he has ALL those added under W, and almost as many added in his 3-1/12th years.

Bashir was lying ... it was the lie snoopy wanted to believe ... end of story.

Even his link shows that it was a lie.

Good points all but I would say this.

Calling Obama the food stamp Pres is implying he is responsible for the rise, which is plainly not true. The unemployment rates and collapse in the housing market are very much linked to people needing assistance, both of which the previous admin is responsible for.

[ When was the last time you heard a republican mention Bush? Never. Its as if he never existed.]

Lets not forget that Newt was playing the race card here.

So if the news is good now ... you give Obama credit, but if it's bad you blame Bush.

Yet, when Bush was POTUS you gave him no credit for anything good and full blame for issues carried over from the previous regime.

Oh ... and you want me to believe you aren't a tool.

WOW! Just WOW!

Total spent by Romney and Restore our future is $9 million, with another $5 million on the way, reports Politico. There are now seven days left in which to spend $10 million between two candidates. </div></div>

What did he do that was good ?

What issues carried over?
He had a balanced budget and if he had done nothing, the nat debt would have been paid off by now!

OTOH, you continually IGNORE the economic situation when Obama got handed a crisis not seen since the great Depression.

Flooded the treasury with revenue ... toppled the Taliban ... toppled the Ba'athist regime ... forced Qaddaffyduck to cease WMD production ... brought Saddamite Hussinsein to justice ... rejected Kyoto ... appointed constitutionalists to the SCOTUS ... EIT in GITMO .

A recession ... Al Qaeda ... a large fleet of military vehicles on which the prior regime had neglected to order with armor ... a substantially depleted military ... law enforcement agencies that were refused the power to share data ... I could go on, but your partisan blinders will shield you from reality.

I don't ignore them at all ... I'm just smart enough to realize that he and his party largely created the mess, and he and his party then made it worse.

That level of advertising spending kills my business down here by interfering with our ad buys. Damn this system!

Wait until the fall, and this will be a much worse problem for a much longer time.

As we saw in '10.

Not really.

Judson shot back. “He’s gotten more people on food stamps!”

Judson WAS wrong in the way he phrased his claim, and Bashir then WAS correct to say so.

At first, I thought it was unimportant to make this fine point, because I figured surely, and probably in the not-too-far future, Obama WOULD in fact have seen more added than Bush during their respective terms in office.

However, the Oct or Nov figures (not sure which I saw) say that the number of food stamp recipients fell by over 40,000. If that is so, and if that is now the trend (sure of the first, not the second), then O may NEVER achieve enough added recipients to beat W's record.
