It doesn't get any crazier or sadder than this.

In a rambling discourse on the sincerity of his apology to Sandra Fluke, Rush Limbaugh today blamed President Obama's "socialist agenda" and leftist provocation for driving him to behave, he claimed, just like his opponents, when he called Fluke a "slut" and a "prostitute".

Limbaugh alleged he was indeed sincere when he claimed to be sorry for saying "those two words", even though he reaffirmed his attack on Fluke over the course of several days last week.

In today's apologia for his apology, Limbaugh explained what precisely he was apologizing for:

"I again sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for using those two words to describe her. I do not think she is either of those two words. <span style='font-size: 14pt'>I did not think last week that she is either of those two words."</span> <span style="color: #000099"> So why did you say it then? Own up.</span>

However, Limbaugh failed to apologize to Fluke for anything else he said about her, for example for his demand that she send him sex tapes of herself in exchange for Limbaugh paying for her contraceptives.

Nevertheless, Limbaugh demanded that his original apology was "pure, simple, heartfelt."

Limbaugh also suggested the entire controversy concerning Fluke's appearance before Congress, and over his remarks about her, was part of a scheme by Barack Obama to gain support of women voters:

"Obama is sorely hurting with women in preelect polls. He wanted to turn this into an issue much as they used to use abortion. So the Democrats played the game."

In fact, Barack Obama's support from women voters in polls has been going up for several months now, and is likely to spike after the events of the last few weeks.

Limbaugh, in spite of his claimed apology, attempted to reframe his attack on Fluke, dismissing her as "a 30-year-old birth control activist [who] gives unverified and inexpert testimony."

Limbaugh closed his statement by affirming "I am huge on personal responsibility and accountability", and then again attacked the left for allegedly "using names and exaggerations" that provoked him to mimic their behavior in attacking Fluke.
