An Arizona man who on Wednesday reportedly killed four people, including a 47-year-old grandmother and a 15-month-old infant, and then took his own life was also a former Republican Party official, a former white supremacist neo-Nazi and the founder of a border patrol vigilante group that advocated using violence on immigrants.

On Thursday morning, police in Gilbert, Arizona confirmed that J.T. (Jason Todd) Ready had committed suicide after killing his girlfriend, 47-year-old Lisa Mederos, along with her daughter, her daughter’s boyfriend and her granddaughter, according to The Arizona Republic (http://www.azcentral.com/community/gilbert/articles/2012/05/02/20120502gilbert-mass-shooting-horrors-vigilante-jt-ready-final-act.html) .

Profiles compiled by the Southern Poverty Law Center (http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-files/profiles/jt-ready) and the Anti-Defamation League (http://www.adl.org/main_Extremism/jason_t._ready_backgrounder.htm) (ADL) indicated that the gunman was a white supremacist with ties to the Arizona Republican Party.

Ready had a history of violence going back to the 1990s. He was arrested for aggravated assault with a weapon in 1992 and then court-martialed twice while in the Marine Corps in 1996. He was discharged after being found guilty of conspiracy, assault, and wrongful solicitation and advice.

After failing to win a bid for the Arizona House of Representatives in 2004, Ready made headlines for firing a pistol at a Latino man while running for Mesa City Council in March 2006. His candidacy ended when an attempt to become master of ceremonies at the Mesa Veteran’s Day parade when his his courts-martial were revealed.

By running unopposed in 2006, Ready successfully secured a position as Maricopa County Republican precinct committeeman in a west Mesa district. In 2007, he gave a speech at a neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement (NSM) rally as a “Arizona Republican activist.” Later that year, Ready created a profile on NSM’s neo-Nazi New Saxon website.

Even after exposing himself as a white supremacist, ready shared the stage with state Senator Russell Pearce at an anti-immigration rally in June 2007. Pearce later said that he had been unaware of Ready’s neo-Nazi connections.

In an interview with Fox 10, Ready called Pearce (http://thinkprogress.org/security/2011/05/23/176621/russell-pearce-jt-ready/) , who sponsored Arizona’s anti-immigration SB1070 law, a “surrogate father” who “enlightened him.” Ready had claimed that he had been with Pearce’s son, Josh, when the younger Pearce got a racist tattoo on his neck and chest — an iron eagle with a swastika.

Seven months after Ready distributed racist and anti-Semitic materials at a Republican Committee meeting, Arizona congressmen John Shadegg, Jeff Flake, and Trent Franks wrote to the chairman of the local Republican Party and asked that he be ousted as precinct committeeman.

“They’ve sold out to the Zionists and the international bankers,” Ready explained to The Arizona Republic at the time.

Pearce told KPHO (http://www.kpho.com/story/18071205/alleged-gunman-had-history-with-white-supremacy-movement) on Wednesday that he had only supported Ready before his affiliation with the white supremacist movement had become public.

“I worked with others to have him removed from his local position within our Republican Party because there has never been and will never be any room in our party or our lives for those preaching hatred,” the state senator said. “He was angry with me and stayed angry with me, and it has been several years since I have had reason to speak with J.T.”

After being rejected by the Republican Party, Ready found a home as a leader in the NSM. He participated in several events between 2009 and 2010 to support Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Ready showed up with other NSM members to protest a Latino-organized “March for Respect” in May 2009, where his group “gave Nazi salutes, shouted ‘Sieg Heil’ and yelled derogatory remarks at the crowd while stomping on the Mexican flag,” according to the ADL (http://www.adl.org/main_Extremism/jason_t._ready_backgrounder.htm) .

Possibly encouraged by Arizona’s anti-immigration law, Ready claimed in June 2010 that he had left the NSM movement to form the “US Border Guard,” an extremist border patrol group.

In an email obtained by the Arizona Daily Star (http://azstarnet.com/news/blogs/border-boletin/article_bfa69f3e-7afb-11df-a31d-001cc4c002e0.html) , Ready invited fellow Arizona residents to join what he called “the Minuteman Project on steroids!” and asked them to bring “plenty of firearms and ammo.”

“The invasion stops here,” he wrote.

A 2010 report (http://ktar.com/6/1536227/JT-Ready-in-video-Well-kill-them) by former Channel One News reporter Steven Fabian featured Ready on patrol in southern Arizona. The group was armed with assault rifles and grenades.

“We’ll kill them,” Ready insisted in the video. “We’ll kill them. We’ll kill the narco-terrorists.”

Although he claimed to have left the NSM movement, his New Saxon profile called on people to “pick up AR-15′s and join him in defending our nation against invasion… only extreme violence of force will keep us free.”

“He was very angry,” Pastor Magdalena Schwartz, who had a few run-ins with Ready, told KPHO on Wednesday.

NSM member Harry Hughes reacted with shock after Wednesday’s killings.

“I think this is horrible,” he told The Arizona Republic (http://www.azcentral.com/community/gilbert/articles/2012/05/02/20120502gilbert-mass-shooting-horrors-vigilante-jt-ready-final-act.html) . “I want everyone to know J.T. Ready was the last person on Earth I’d figure to have done anything to hurt a child. It really caught me off guard. Despite all the rhetoric and the stuff we’re going to hear about him being the evil Nazi, he was a good man.”

Heather Morton, who knew Ready and the victims, said that he had been so “cruel and controlling” that Lisa Mederos’ daughter, Amber, had moved out of the house a few months ago with her daughter and fiance. All of them were victims of the shooting.

Morton recalled that Ready often ridiculed the infant for being half Hispanic.

“He said, ‘She’s 50 percent ugly,’ that’s how he described her,” Morton said.

What really gets me about this very sad tragedy, is that the Southern Poverty Law Center, and other domestic security think tanks, have warned us for the last decade plus, that we have growing threats from the radical religious RW, militia mentality Tea Party Zealots. Those irrational, Don't Tread On Me... God, Guns and Gays, NUTJOBS, and that is exactly what they are.

Yet, while the warnings grow stronger every year, the Republicans come out in outrage each time public statements are made, regarding the growing Radical RW threats, aime at their party's approved policies, whic are clearly linked to the growing threat.

Yet, regardless of ample proof when such horrible results of Republican Social irresponsibility emerges, their denial immediately kicks in, and undenialbe proof of the link, is met with their usual response to all of their irrational policies, blame the Dems for what they themselves have screwed up! MASSIVE State Of Denial!

When are Republicans EVER going to take responsibility for their on-going, irresponsible, anti-social views, and the devastating consequences to sosciety, their own class and racial, sexual warfare which they continue to prosecute against our country's best interests.

Clearly, this Republican representative is trying to distance himself, after years and years of supporting this nutjob, and his anti-american views, this actual monster which he helped to create, and even sponsored to become a MORMAN.

Reading this story took me back to the sights of all of the Republicans, standing on that balcony, during the Tea Party Demonstration, cheering these radical racist nutjobs on, as they were holding signage which any and every thoughtful, patriotic American SHOULD have been outraged over, and should have spoken out against!

Another failed attempt to post rationally.

Nothing in my post indicates when the Tea Party arrived, but when they did, they fell right in with the Neo-Nazi- racist, gun toting zealots, same element of our society, which we were being warned of over a decade ago, same RW radicals.

Additionally, I stated all along, Republican support of the Tea Party would paint the Republicans right into a corner, said so back when certain people from Flyover states, were claiming that the Tea Party represented the majority of Americans. Total BULL, of course, like everything else he wrote.

Now we are seeing Republicans trying to distance themselves, from the Tea Party types. Hmmm, precisely as I predicted.

Obviously, they have begun to realize the corner they have painted themselve into, part of why Mitt can't Flip, and they are now trying to deny the role they played in promoting those radical elements of the Tea Party, and ignoring the resulting murderous actions, of which MOST Americans do not approve.

Just like the Republican in AZ, who is reversing reality, to try to avoid paying the political price which he so richly deserves, for supporting this nutjob, in the first place.

You have only pointed out your own ignorance. There were radical religious RW, with militia mentality, before they all joined up with the Tea Party.

There isn't a single resaonsble poster here who would be dishonest enough or irrational enough, or desperate enough, to suggest that I am unaware of when the Tea Party emerged on the national scene.

Your usual exuberance for attacking, and irritating, requires skewing what is written, and again precludes successfully grasping the actual flavor of what is written, but that isn't your intention anyway.

One can ask what is meant about what something someone else writes, in the interest of clarity, but the reader is not the defining expert on the intended message.

When a Govt rapport came out claiming that RW home bred terrorism was the biggest threat, the RW did loops.

BTW, how do you sleep at night knowing you support people who the ADL denounces and who would be all too happy to march you right into the gas chambers and ovens? That sort of behavior is all that the right has! They obviously have no proof of anything they write. They are like a bunch of nasty high school sorority girls, who have nothing but slander, rumors and insults in their arsenal.

Hence, for over a decade, they have done nothing but seek to bastardize every single thread of factual information, with the same ol' insulting lines, over and over again.

Clearly the AZ shooter was part of the Republican Party, and was embraced and promoted by his close friend, a Republican.

Clearly, said Republican sponsored the shooter's inclusion in the Mormon church. This romney-like, Mormon link, is the reason why the rightwing news organizations, which is basically all of them, have ignored this story.

Clearly, the shooter was a member of the Tea Party, in fact, a leader of the Tea Party in his state.

Clearly he was the very sort of Republican Party supported and promoted, religious fanatic, gun toting, radical RW element in our society which our experts have been warning us about for over a decade.

The right is denying that he was the very sort of Radical RW threat, which which many experts in the FBI, the SPLC, HLS, annd many others, are charged with exposing as serious domestic threats, and have been warning us about for over a decade.

Clearly, Republicans consistantly blew up with outrage, every time said experts warned the country of these RW nutjobs.

Additionally, we know that George W. Bush, refused to allow Homeland Security, or the DOJ, to prosecute these same sort of radical religious types, those who broke the laws which were supposed to protect women who sought abortions, from harrassment, and protect those doctors and clinics, from violence. The statistics prove, that under the Bush Administration, legal action to enforce those laws, came to a schreeching halt.

The right refuses to look at the facts becausee the facts clearly prove, that Republican philosophies have made our country far less safe.

More guns than people. The highest murder rates in the world. And throughout George Bush's Executive powers, and Republican House majorities, the attack on women's rights and Gay rights, were consistant, and concentrated.

Fewer laws against the wrong people getting their hands on guns. The Republicans earned the title of the grand oil party, of guns, gays and God, only the God part is totally absurd. It isn't Jesus's philosophies which they represent, it is Satin's philosophies which they have actually promoted.

More pro gun and killing rhetoric than I have ever seen in my lifetime, and Republicans failing completely to speak out against their own radical extremists, or even prosecute them for breaking the law, or for killing people, bombing abortion clinics, promoting laws for the NRA, like stand Your Ground, which add to the violence in our country, and promote Vigilantism, a lawless country.

Republicans live in a world of FEAR. FEAR is the enemy of critical thinking. Their followers slurp up Republican fear mongering aimed at "The Other" and that "Other" is anyone who is poor, of color, of minority status, ie., sexually, genderwise, and ethnically, and even the uemployed.

Republicans are the antithesis of what Jesus preached, and believe me, they know that, which proves their leaders completely hypocrital, annd their followers, mentally unstable.

They are THE THREAT to a peaceful country, where Americans accept and love on another, and include all sorts of people in our country as valuable members of our society. One nation Under God, indivisible? Republicans have destroyed that concept.

Now, they are facing the facts, realizing that they have attacked too many minorities, and that their un-american philosophies are anachronistic to our youth, and that they cannot hold onto their hateful radical extremists, without losing the man other far more populous groups against which they have launched war against over this last decade plus.

So the question remains, will the right continue to live in denial, and vote for a man like Romney, who is clearly as much a crook, liar and thief as George W. Bush was?

Sadly, I believe the RW radicals are still brain washed enough to do just that, but they will not get majorities of independents, women, immigrants, Mexicans, African Americans, the poor, the younng, or the old, and Romney will fail.

Republicans will lose seats.

The crooks will spend billions upon billions to get another free ticket to steal and pollute, but I do not believe their politics of Rovarian/Romney styled, filth, slander, greed and destruction will succeed this time.

Those rhetorical tactics have gotten old, annd lost their power, and people are tired of it, most of us see though it, far more now than ever before.

So, unless Rove figures out a way to throw another election, and votes are disenfranchised, AGAIN by the RW fascist Supreme Court, which AGAIN, oversteps their Constitutional bounds, and appoints another president, President Obama will win.

If the Fascist Supreme Court steps in to give away another election to the Republilcans, IMO, there will be another civil war.

Peace loving Liberals, have had it, and they are more than ready now, to fight back, as we can easily see in the Occupy Movement, which is far wider than just a Liberal group, at this time, it has been jined by the very groups which Republicans have been warring against, and the Tea Party, is a drop in the bucket, compared to OWS, which represents a group willing to take chances, which is exactly the only sort of group which does bring about CHANGE.

Denial never moves anything forward. Americans will not flood to the boths, to vote for a phony like Romney, who has no foreign policy experience, whatsoever, a poor record of job creation, AND most of us do not like him. That's three powerful strikes!

There are approx 30,000 gun laws on the books.
How many do you need to cover 1 subject?

Nah, it makes him a dead neo-Nazi and former GOP official. And I am happy he's gone. Rot in hell J. T. ! </div></div>

Is it willful ignorance that can causes you to ignore the violence of the Left everywhere you look while pointing to the rare instances of violence on the Right? Those of us on the Right make every effort to marginalize such extremists while those on the Left hold them on a pedestal.

Is there any chance, Gayle, that you might at least acknowledge the methods the Left almost always include violence by design?

Actually, I find you not to be a rational person at all, with whom to communicate or debate, on the subject of vigilantism, since for years, you posted praise on this forum, for a murdering coward, who stalked an innocent man, hid in the bushes, like a coward, and murdered him.

Additionally, your statement is one which I have studied in depth, and it is false.

The history of the left an mob violence is over two centuries old.

Anyone who wants to know how this ends if it is left unchecked need only review Robespierre's REIGN OF TERROR ... or Hitler's declaration that his followers were of a master race ... or Mao's mass murders ... or Stalin's gulags ... or Pot's killing fields.

The radical left which has devoured the party of Kennedy, Humphrey, Muskie and Truman is a clear and present danger to the survival of the human species.

That isn't a rational question. First of all, it is not true.

I don't need any gun laws, in order to write about this tragedy.

Perhaps a good question might be to ask yourself, if you think the NRA, should be able to buy and bribe our representatives, in order to put more guns, more quickly, into the hands of emotionally unbalanced people, who should never be allowed to own a gun at all.

As for what I 'need' ....my post was not solely focused on gun laws, it was focused far more on the FACT that Republicans have feigned outrage, over legitimate concerns and warings about their own radical fringe. Republicans have failed to address the warnings about the growing threats, reported by respectable experts in the field of domestic terrorism, experts who have published factual information regarding radical fringe element and that growing threat, and how that phenomenon links to this tragedy.

If you would like to address any of those pertinent specifics, I would be happy to debate them with you.

I'm sure you have noticed ... but the right of the people to keep and bear arms as a means of defense against a repressive state scares the fascistic left worse than the right of the people to speak out against a repressive state.

Yes, and that violence continues today as we watch the mindless OWS across the country motivated by violence for its own sake with the full support of Democrat leadership.

And will those on the Left acknowledge that violence is a problem? No, they will not because that is all they have.

If the left had the testicular-ovarian fortitude to learn about such " WORKER'S PARADISE" regimes as Lenin's Russia, Cambodia, Cooba, or Mao's China they would realize that if the statist's ever gain complete control ... thy will have outlived their usefulness and be the first invited to the camps.

I am merely pointing out that during your diarreah of the mouth, you said the "think tanks" were warning us about the Tea Party a decade plus ago. It was stupid mistake on your part but could you be the adult and admit it. NOPE. There is a saying about old dogs and you are up to your old tricks again.
