View Full Version : Romney Was Against the ER Before He Was For It

Classic flip-flop Mittens.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">During his interview with 60 minutes last night, Mitt Romney implied that it’s not the responsibility of government to insure the tens of millions of Americans who do not have health insurance because those people can just go to the ER.

ROMNEY: Well, we do provide care for people who don’t have insurance, people — we– if someone has a heart attack, they don’t sit in their apartment and die. We pick them up in an ambulance, and take them to the hospital, and give them care. And different states have different ways of providing for that care.

PELLEY: <u>That’s the most expensive way to do it…In an emergency room.</u>

ROMNEY: Different, again, different states have different ways of doing that. Some provide that care through clinics. Some provide the care through emergency rooms. In my state, we found a solution that worked for my state. But I wouldn’t take what we did in Massachusetts and say to Texas, “You’ve got to take the Massachusetts model.”

As Pelley pointed out, visits to the ER are the most expensive form of healthcare. Additionally, visits to the ER, particularly visits by the uninsured, are a major driver of healthcare costs. It’s also one of the primary rationales for creating a mandate.

<span style='font-size: 14pt'>Mitt Romney acknowledged and made the case for this himself </span>in 2007. At the 1:12 minute mark: </div></div>

Wait for it......here it comes.....Flippity-Flop....

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> We say that citizens making three times federal poverty or more, that’s $54,000 a year in our state for a family of four, you have to buy a policy that you can afford. And no more showing up at the hospital expecting someone else to pay your way.

For people earning less than three times federal poverty we the state will subsidize their purchase of a policy. They choose the policy they want. We subsidize its purchase. And that way we get everybody insured.

[Question] And that doesn’t cost any additional dollars?

<span style='font-size: 14pt'>The answer is no because we’ve been spending in our state about $1.3 billion a year giving money to hospitals that give out free care. So we were spending about $1.3 billion. That money came from taxes, it came from assessments on hospitals and insurance companies, it came from the federal government, it came from all of the above. <u>And we said, okay, look, instead of paying money to the hospitals to give out free care, why don’t we subsidize the purchase of insurance?</u></span>

And thus you have the definitive case for an individual mandate and Obamacare/Romneycare.</div></div>

He just made the case for <span style='font-size: 14pt'>OBAMACARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!</span>

They don't sit in their apartment?

"....their apartment?"

Does he think that all people without health insurance, live in apartments? Or that all people who have heart attacks live in apartments?

He disgusts me.

Ummm, you might want to read the part where he said...nevermind I will just point it out to you.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Different, again, different states have different ways of doing that. </div></div>So, what he is saying is that all states treat this issue differently. For his state he chose to force healthcare on people but he doesn't think that would be right for other states. I personally don't think holding back the poor and lower middle class makes sense when lefties are going to still allow the illegals free access to the emergency room (which are the biggest offenders anyways and have no fear of deportation).

Mitt,

"After thorough testing, we have shown conclusively that wearing a seatbelt reduces serious injury by 50%".

If something works, its works everywhere..

Mitt admitted it, the most expensive HC is ER care. Now he is doing an about turn.

None of this counters what we are discussing which is whether Romneycare or Obamacare is good for all states. You have yet to prove it.

Rubbish. He only came up with that "he doesn't think that would be right for other states" crap when the GOP went bananas over Obamacare [ , which was based on what Romney did as Gvnr ] and he disowned his only real accomplishment.

In the video, Mittens said exactly what he believed in and it was a point of principle, not politics.

Thanks for showing your true colours. It only matters to you when the person has a [D] after their name. LOL

You can forgive Romney EVERYTHING but when it comes to Obama.....?

In just the last few weeks, Mittens, by his OWN standards, has confirmed he is not fit to be Pres because he paid more tax than he had to.
He has said he doesn't five a rats a$$ about the bottom 50%.
Now he supports Socialism?

David Axelrod had him down straight away.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> "I think there is a sense <span style='font-size: 14pt'>there is no core to him</span>," he added.

"Mitt Romney finally conceded, 'Yes I had illegals working on my property from a lawn service.' He said, 'I went to the lawn service and said, <span style='font-size: 14pt'>for Pete's sake I can't have illegals, I'm running for office!</span>' <span style='font-size: 23pt'>And, not it was wrong; not, it was illegal; but I'm running for office," Axelrod said. </span>"I thought that was the most unintentionally revealing moment of the debate." </div></div>

Is this a guy who really wants to serve his country and help people or someone on an ego trip ,who just sees the Presidency as trophy?

Mittens does it again!! Flippity-Flop.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney touted his health care law as governor of Massachusetts on Wednesday, a move that tends to create awkwardness for the candidate as he tries to thread the needle between standing behind his achievement and criticizing the president's health care law, which is modeled after it.

"I think throughout this campaign as well, we talked about my record in Massachusetts, don't forget -- I got everybody in my state insured," Romney told NBC's Ron Allen in an interview. "One hundred percent of the kids in our state had health insurance. I don't think there's anything that shows more empathy and care about the people of this country than that kind of record." </div></div>

Now its, "if you get sick, just go to the ER!"

Nothing in his quote is a flip flop at all. What he showed is that he has proven in the past that he "cared" about the little people. I don't think forcing them to buy health insurance is called "caring" but Obama certainly does so by that fact alone you must agree that Romney has proven he cares for them.

Has anyone ever checked the 100% comment? Now that is something quantifiable. If the 100% is correct then he is light years ahead of Obamacare.
