Its very clear what happened. Obama came out to challenge Mittens on his policies and Mittens suddenly had NEW policies...most of which were lies.

This was yet ANOTHER Mitt Romney! Its difficult to pin someone down when they deny everything they have been campaigning on for 18 months, right up to the debate.

Example. Mittens says his Romney care should be adopted by the whole country [ and he did say it, its on video], then he says not and in the debate he says yes!!!!

Where do you start with that?

Another,

"My HC plan covers people with pre-existing conditions."

No it doesn't!!!!!! Krugman pointed this out. Mittens campign walked it back, AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Top Romney Adviser: States Will Have To Cover People With Pre-Existing Conditions Under President Romney

Brian Beutler October 3, 2012, 11:30 PM 125493

After the first presidential debate at the University of Denver in Colorado on Wednesday night, one of Mitt Romney’s top advisers acknowledged that, as a result Romney’s plan to repeal Obamacare, people with pre-existing medical conditions would likely be unable to purchase insurance.

The admission directly contradicts the GOP candidate’s claim during the debate that “pre-existing conditions are covered under my plan” — a contention Romney has repeated on the trail and that his campaign has repeatedly walked back.

As SofLa pointed out, this is not the first time Mittens has lied about this.

He did not misspeak. He lied.

Bill Maher is a COMEDIAN. He told a joke with a punchline. His understanding is shallow and reactionary.

Perhaps he like many Democratic partisans wants Obama to come out full partisan and angry. Obama long ago made a strategic decision not to feed into the angry black man meme, and is interested in picking up undecided voters to his side, and THEY do not like what partisans like when it comes to style and mannerisms.

In the aftermath of the debate, Obama's approval rating ticked up a point or two. Romney's also went up, but he's still underwater on that measure-- more disapproved than approved.

It's simply not the case that the swing voters in the swing states will respond to either sides' talking points as the base will. The smarter part of the base understands this (just as the right is now giving Romney a pass on his many heresies away from their core positions). Why? To be able to win.

Here's for smarter Democrats.
