View Full Version : The Benghazi Issue

There are a lot of people who just can't figure out why or how this administration could pursue such an obviously faulty explanation/cover-up surrounding the events at Benghazi. I heard this explanation yesterday and it meshes well with what many conservatives have been saying about he Left on a large number of issues.

Leftist ideology appears so unquestionably correct to those who have signed on, that they become blinded to reality, blinded to any evidence that contradicts their preconceptions of what reality 'should' be. But, the lefties will say, aren't you righties exactly the same except on the other side? The answer is obviously 'no'. Conservatives don't have a problem aligning our ideology with reality.

The Moron and his minions may not be able to explain the apparent contradictions easily but they know what reality should be so it is merely a matter of making adjustments of some sort to make sense out of it. The real problem, the lefties believe, is that the Right are conflicted by their ideology that they are simply blinded to what reality should be.

There has been no cover up.

The investigations on the ground have just begun.

The President and Secretary of State reported all of the information they were forwarded from people on the ground, as they got the information.

Additionally, Repiglicans cut millions, well over 500 million over the last two years in funding to protect all of our foreign Ambassadors at Embassies and Consolates, against the warnings of Secretary Clinton, AND the President.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) acknowledged on Wednesday that House Republicans had consciously voted to reduce the funds allocated to the State Department for embassy security since winning the majority in 2010.

On Wednesday morning, CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien asked the Utah Republican if he had "voted to cut the funding for embassy security."

"Absolutely," Chaffetz said. "Look we have to make priorities and choices in this country. We have…15,000 contractors in Iraq. We have more than 6,000 contractors, a private army there, for President Obama, in Baghdad. And we’re talking about can we get two dozen or so people into Libya to help protect our forces. When you’re in tough economic times, you have to make difficult choices. You have to prioritize things.”

For the past two years, House Republicans have continued to deprioritize the security forces protecting State Department personnel around the world. In fiscal year 2011, lawmakers shaved $128 million off of the administration's request for embassy security funding. House Republicans drained off even more funds in fiscal year 2012 -- cutting back on the department's request by $331 million.

Consulate personnel stationed in Benghazi had allegedly expressed concerns over their safety in the months leading up to the Sept. 11 attacks that killed four Americans, including Amb. Chris Stevens. Chaffetz and Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), who chairs the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, claim those concerns were ignored.

"It seems to be a coordinated effort between the White House and the State Department, from Secretary [Hillary] Clinton to President Obama's White House," Chaffetz told Fox and Friends on Tuesday.

This is what they have to say to cover up their witch hunt. Repiglicans continue to waste money on investigations which turn up nothhing, just as they did in the case of Fast & Furious.

In fact, if we counted up all of the witch hunt investigations that led to absolutely NOTHING, no proof of any broken laws, annd no legal remedy required after the investigations were reported, we could probably pay off the entire Repiglican Created deficit! They wasted millions upon millions already just this year, well over a hundred million by the time they finish with the current witch hunt, the F & F Fiasco, and re-voting on repealing the health care Act</span> </span>

Chaffetz and Issa co-signed a letter to the State Department, demanding answers on to the Benghazi security detail. State Department officials and other witnesses will testify before the House Oversight Subcommittee on National Security, Homeland Defense, and Foreign Operations on Wednesday.

Ahead of the hearing, some Democrats claim that partisanship and campaigning are corrupting the Libyan investigation, The New York Times reports. The charges come as some GOP members attempt to frame the incident as a failure of the Obama's foreign policy and to call criticize the administration for engaging in a "cover-up" of what really occurred

Marine, Republican Congressman from South Dakota just endorsed Obama.

He came out against his own party because he knows what I've followed since the mid-90s, that the Republicans have been destroying funding to protect the military and veterans but Obama has fought for funding for the military and veterans. Obama has actually gotten a lot of programs and help for our returning trooops and veterans since he took office.

So Obama does do things that the Republicans don't, and the Democratic Party supports them far more than REpiglicans, as well, as you could easily learn, if you did more than just follow the Repiglican talking points, and started watching C-Span, to see the disgraceful way the Repiglicans conduct themselves...

His administration has been fighting to get money for border security as well. Since he was elected, he increased it but when the Republicans took over, they've been cutting his request and denying what he's been trying to get to help end problems, holding expensive witch hunts, and coming up with nothing, wasting millions upon millions of dollars, for nothing.

And now they've been outed for what they've been doing to the state department's request to help keep our embassies secure.

They are PIGS!

I agree with Gayle and think she has all of that correct.

More, as I've explained on another thread, there was an intelligence failure, or an intelligence leak, in which the location of the safehouse was disclosed or discovered.

The ambassador was an Arabist. He spoke Arabic, and was sympathetic to the Arab people. (We used to have many such people in the State Dept. through the JFK administration, before we got so close to Israel starting with LBJ, who dropped JFK's rejection of Israel getting a nuclear capability and then allowed the USS Liberty attack coverup.) Libya, surprisingly, given that the al Qaeda type forces we supported there (as is the case in Syria now) formed up most of the Khaddafi resistance, did not put their Muslim Brotherhood or jihadi types into power when they voted. The ambassador played a significant role. He was targeted for murder, using leaked (or obtained through penetration) top secret information.

As a matter of national security, you simply do not air that dirty laundry immediately in public, as the investigation unfolds. It may very well be withheld from the public until the classifications unwind some decades from now.

Your framing of this as leftie dogma crumbling is uninformed and naive dogma of your own. There is far more here than meets the eye.

I find it rediculous for this witch hunt over the attack and "can we smear the admin" BS, WHEN if there was really a serious crime to resurface and prosecute, just remember how Bush ignored us into an attack here on our own soil. Bush is guilty of many deaths.

You guys really need to get a life. sid

It's worse than even you say.

The Evil Clown Posse that is the GOP hunting for electoral gain blew much classified material into the public domain with their exhibits of exactly where and who the ready response team was.

And then they drew extra attention to it. It was CIA personnel, and although the statement in the record was that they were at the consulate 'annex,' it was likely another safehouse nearby.

By stupidly revealing sources and methods, these guys have endangered diplomatic missions around the world.

But what is national security to them if they can gain short term political gain? Evil. Clowns.

Easy, the nutty 25% believed the first lie ... then denounced it so they could the second lie ... then denounced it so they could believe the third lie ... and will denounce it so they can obediently believe the next lie.

Once a cult forms around a godking ... and there is no other possible definition for a man ho claims to be able to command the oceans, with followers who feint at his site and denounce infidels who dare even peak his name ... truth is the first sacrificial lamb placed on the altar.

Attacking Obama is ALL that concerns them.

They wonder why Iran is maybe trying to build a bomb to protect themselves, when every week they say 'lets bomb Iran!'. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

Clearly a lot of things got screwed up, and not only was no one reprimanded, busted in rank, fired or disciplined, but a lot of the key people responsible for these things were promoted, given special presidential commendations and large cash bonuses.

Why would that be?

Do a survey on the street and ask the people,

"how many from the 9/11 bombers can you name"?

I think the results will say it all,

"The only chemical attack on the USA occurred after 9/11. Do you know who was responsible?'

I think the number is pretty low, ie NOT that important.

What is the importance of knowing their name? What purpose does that serve? Now, ask what religion did this to their country I gaurantee you they know the important information.

What was their nationalities.

Did the Bush admin know there were terrorist cells in the US?

The only attack on US soil since WW2 and its the most under reported story in decades. The average US citizen can't name one bomber or where they came from. They can only name their religion!

This also goes for the Anthrax attack. Who done it? What was his or her religion?

You didn't answer my question. What purpose does it serve. Ask them what religion did this to them and they will give you the important info.
