View Full Version : SNL’s Second Debate

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Tonight’s Saturday Night Live opened with a spoof of this past week’s second presidential debate between President Barack Obama and GOP challenger Mitt Romney, mocking both candidates for their overly aggressive attitude towards one another, the stereotypically Italian and Jewish Long Islanders who asked questions, and the fact-checking moderator Candy Crowley.

Jay Pharoah‘s Obama and Jason Sudeikis‘ Romney nearly came to blows on several occasions. At one point, Romney tried to slap the microphone out of Obama’s hands mid-answer; at another moment, Obama gave his opponent the middle finger.

“Let me at him, Dad,” an angry Tagg Romney interrupted when Obama’s crap-talking became too much.

SNL also relentlessly mocked the Long Islanders who asked questions during the debate, hitting their Italian and Jewish accents, oversimplified questions, and loud-mouthed attitudes. And take it from this native Long Islander: the parody was not far from true. </div></div>

That Romney actor, Jason Sudeikis, does great work, and immediately took my mind off his just prior Biden role.

SNL's political satire over the years has been wickedly good, and they continue the tradition. Very well done.
