One of the last remaining democrat senators, before the moonbat era, as passed.

While I disagreed with George Stanley McGovern on most spending issues, he was undoubtedly a champion of the poor as well as a decorated war veteran and patriot.

After retiring, the senator recanted his anti business ways ... and was in the last generation of demcrat senators who believed that politics ended at the nation's borders.

May he rest in peace.

Thank you for the commemoration, and I agree.

However, the right surely did not, holding him up as the very essence of the moonbat era, representing, they said, the trio of policies of 'abortion, amnesty and acid.'

Wasn't true then, isn't true now, but wrongly, McGovern was the face used by the GOP to smear the Democratic Party for a generation as 'weak on defense,' 'appeasers,' and 'cut and run quitters,' even as he was exactly right about Vietnam.
