I was looking to buy the book by Robert Byrne
McGoorty: A Pool Room Hustler</font color=red> (http://r1.us.rmi.yahoo.com/rmi/http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp/rmivars%3ftarget=_top?userid=2WC8RX038D&amp;sourceid=0 0002123460000000000&amp;isbn=1892129493><font).

While doing a search at Barnes and Noble I also came across another book by Byrne called McGoorty: The Story of a Billiard Bum</font color=red> (http://r1.us.rmi.yahoo.com/rmi/http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp/rmivars%3ftarget=_top?userid=2WC8RX038D&amp;sourceid=0 0002123460000000000&amp;isbn=0806509252><font)

Has anyone read both of the books and can you tell me what the difference is in the 2. The 2nd one doesnt have a description and is only available used. I was just wondering if they are the same story. Does anyone know? Thanks for the replies

Both books were co-authored by Byrne and McGoorty.

I have read the "bum" book and found it very entertaining. But, I also found it very tragic, that someone had that much talent and skill could waste it all.

The 2000 version might just be the re-released version. The other version (1984 Release) was the one that I read.

Get it, one of the most entertaining books on the subject ever.

The McGoorty book underwent a title change at least once if not twice. It's the same book.

It's a must-read. I finally read it last month.

As Fred stated, they are the same book. The title change came when the book was reprinted. The first edition was "Billiard Bum" (which is why you can only find it used; it went out of print).
