I'm actually a bit disappointed with the Nicknames overall

I like Cory Deuel's nickname, the Prince of Pool

surely someone should be called the Sharpshooter , or the Assassin , or the Blob !

Actually, Evengy Staliv (sp?) is called The Assassin.

I think Buddy Hall's 'Rifleman' moniker is pretty cool. Jeanette Lee as the 'Black Widow' sounds like a profesional wrestler or a Bond villain, but it's still pretty cool.

The thing I like best about Earl "The Pearl" Strickland's nickname is that it's sort of ironic. When I think of a pearl, I think of something pleasant, but most the stories I hear about him in competition are of someone who loses his temper quickly. In his defense, I've heard of him in very sportsmanlike fashion conceding a match to Bustamante after a phenomenal two-rail kick shot on the eight and raising his arm to proclaim him the victor.

When I go pro, I'm gonna be called the "Slightly Smushed Peanut Butter Sandwich." That's bound to instill fear in the hearts of men.

I vote for Danny Basavich's nickname: Kid Delicious!

He's not a pro, and as a matter of fact, according to one professional's judgement, can't even make three balls in a row; but nevertheless, I think nAz's new monikner, "The Chatty Crown Prince of CCBdom" has a ring to it.

Actually, around here where he's from(NJ), we used to call him "Fat Danny". He gave himself that nickname of "Kid Delicious" when he started beating world class players.

Actually Earl's nickname is pretty appropriate considering that a pearl is caused by an irritation inside the oyster, resulting in a thing of beauty. He's certainly irritating and his game is a thing of beauty.

I personally like Shannon "the Cannon" Daulton.

We have one guy at the pool hall we call Road Kill. laugh
Of course there is also Road Bump and ATM Bob or whatever his first name is.lol
Allison's Dutchess Of Doom gets my vote.
Lee's Black Widow is now corny.
Bustamante's Django is the coolest if you know who Django was back in the spaghetti western days.
Worst one? Earl The Girl Strickland. That's what they call him in Europe now. lol

I hate how they turn over nicknames. When Oil Can Larry Lisciotti won the World's tournament in '76, SI (or some magazine) did an article and dubbed him "The Prince of Pool." He gets first rights of refusal.

And everyone and their brother knows that APA co-founder and former World Champion, Larry Hubbart from Rochester, NY is "The Iceman."

BTW, someone most surely has already informed that Tony Robles' nickname is "The Silent Assassin."

Brent,

You have to go back a few years to the time when Larry Hubbard was one of the top pool players in America. Maybe 20 years ago? I seem to recall a tournament I went to about 1979 and seeing Larry playing some strong 9-ball. Buddy Hall was there and was skinny as a rail at that time! Heck, back then you could buy a Billy Stroud cue for about $200. As I recall, Larry was known as The Ice Man because he seemed to have ice water in his veins (no nervousness) when playing pool. Mika, who is one of my favorite players, doesn't seem like an "ice man" with the meaning referred to above. Maybe Mike should be known as "The Quiet Man?"

I really do like Evengy "The Assassin"" Staliv (sp?) It sounds scary! lol

LOL! Yeah, it was that video he did a long time ago with those Penthouse girls ("Stroke It"). The really funny thing about that video was that Dave was trying to be professional and all. After they filmed his parts, and he had left, then they had the girls rolling all over the pool tables, stripping, bla bla bla. Dave didn't know any of this until the first time he saw the finished product! The only people who called him by that nick-name were just busting his b*lls. I don't think it ever stuck /webbbs/images/icons/wink.gif.
