The fourth stop of the '02-'03 Killer B's Series was held on December 8th at Snooker's Cafe & Billiards and attracted 49 players. The field was quite strong with only two top 10 players missing.

Tim Perry, last year's Killer B player of the year, and Tony Masi worked their way to the finals to take the lion's share of almost $1,800 in prize funds.

The two players met in the winner's side semi-finals for the hot seat. Masi's position game left him during this set and he had to rely on his excellent shot making abilities. Unfortunately for him, the odds were against him and Perry was able to capitalize on all his mistakes and win the set to put him in the finals.

On the one-loss side, Masi met up with Jason Carrillo, who had been defeating some of the top Killer B players on tour. This was the second time these two players met in this tournament and in my opinion it's difficult to beat the same player twice in a tournament. But Masi was able to dominate the match by pulling out to a 5-1 lead. Masi would end up defeating Carrillo, 7-4, for a rematch against Perry.

In a true double elimination event, Masi would have to beat Perry twice to win the tournament. Perry was getting out from everywhere and playing perfectly to a score of 5-2. It looked like he would run away with the victory, but Masi showed some heart and was able to win the first set at hill-hill.

The second set started with Masi winning the first game and Perry would be forced to play catch-up. Masi continued to maintain a 1 or 2 game lead. At the score of 5-4, Perry locked up Masi behind the four ball and it looked like Perry might be able to even up the score. Masi played an awesome kick on the one ball, which comboed the nine ball cross side. Masi gave Perry a another chance when the score was 6-4, but Perry would scratch while pocketing the seven ball and conceded the match and tournament to Masi.

The next Killer B event will held at Rhode Island Billiards in North Providence, RI on December 29th. If you have any questions about the series, contact series promoter Mario Barriere at MSBPromo@hotmail.com.
