Allan...A calcutta is a way for players and spectators to bet on who will win the tournament. It is an auction, that occurs immediately prior to the start of the tournament. Sometimes they do a 2nd calcutta for the final 16. Usually, a player has the opportunity to "buy 1/2" of himself, by paying half of what he went for in the calcutta to whoever bought him. Be careful, many times players are 'bid up' very high...and they have been known to 'dump' a match and lose on purpose. Calcuttas usually pay 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. "Wild" when you getting weight (i.e.: you are getting the wild 7), means that you don't have to "call" that particular ball, and if it goes in on a legal hit, you win. Hope this helps.
