Well, we all pretty much know how good Oliver Ortmann is from past Challenge of Champions. I was disappointed he didn't compete in the U.S. Open this year because I love his style. He's a champion that I believe wasn't on the 2000 Mosconi team. Of course Ralph Souquet won the U.S. Open this year and is no slouch. A little slow for my taste but he obviously gets the job done and is extremely consistent and real solid under pressure. I don't particularly like how slow Nick Van Den Berg plays but he's an obvious talent. Steve Davis amazes me everytime he misses because I just don't expect him to miss on those huge pockets, I do expect him to make mistakes in position and safeties though. Chamat is much improved but something about him just sets me off. I was very impressed with him at the U.S. Open the little I saw him. I believe he had a heck of a finish in the World Championships. Of course a former World Champ and New York City resident you'd have to live under a rock not to know who Mika is and yeah, he plays real sporty.

Here's a cool Mika pic also. I think he's somewhere on the left. Or right.

btw, fred and others,

i brought up earlier the possibility of michaela tabb being a ref at the us open, which was met with some negative feedback. just to let y'all know, she is very interested in doing it. she's a great gal and as everyone got to see, a great referee (unlike the nigel dude who blew 2 calls in a single race to 5! i mean how many calls does a pool ref need to make!) you had to love the scottish accent when she admonished the london crowd!!
