Ok I get excited when it winds up toward my familiar Saturday jaunt to play pool, but I personally realize that it isn't as much the pool I'm about to play as much as it is the envolvement with the people. I seem to be able to read some players who, on the other hand come stricktly with pool on their minds, the people are there for window dressing, it wouldn't really matter a bit to them if there was no personal interaction. Are you someone who plays to enjoy socializing & pool as a secondary, or someone with pool as the sole reason you're there???sid

Man Sid you sure are getting philosophical on us lately. That must be some good medication your doc is giving you. LOL. But it is the whole ball of wax for me. The competition, the people, the players, the environment.

jjinfla,
I love the whole ball of wax also, the subculture of pool is a very interesting place. The pool hall is an oasis of like minded people, every animal in the zoo shows up eventually....LOL LOL...I love it... /ccboard/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ccboard/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Its the life of pool for me. a tourny director told me once in a three day tourny there are three different classes. on friday you have cattle class every one heards in all at once and its awfully hectic. on saturday you have business class, every one is taking it serious and getting down to business. On sunday you have first class, usually the cream of the crop the champions. I thought it was pretty cool ~~Jon from MN~~

Pool first then socializing, if everyone came soley to play pool then things would get pretty boring. When I'm playing pool I never talk with friends or interact with others, but as soon as i'm finished I start interacting with everyone else.

Um Sid you don't give much of a middle ground here. I go to play pool. Depending on the people when I'm there depends on how much I socialize. I really go for both with pool as the primary. After all we can socialize anywhere. Down deep why would we be at a pool room if that wasn't part of the original attraction. The first time we go in to a room is it to socialize or play pool? I realize most of us want to meet people. For a CCB event, that I'll probably never see, it would lean towards meeting people first. /ccboard/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

~~ rod leans heavy towards pool though /ccboard/images/graemlins/cool.gif

i started off with the social aspect of pool. Most friday nites with the lads at a poolhall etc

Now its about the Pool, i'm so competitive that i just have to be the best ! i've left the guys i used to play social pool with well behind ( i still socialise with them, just not with pool, we go clubbin). I now play Pool with proper pool players who are as competitive and dedicated as myself
