Usually at major tournaments there's always a cue repair person with a lathe on site to do tips ferrules and shafts etc. When they clean and sand the shafts they always use a sealer which has a pungent odor. When asked what exactly this is they will never disclose the substance. Does anybody know what this is exactly, and why all the secrecy about it?

I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.

No the smell is not like lighter fluid. It's more like nail polish remover, and I'm not talking about the accetone type smell of nail polish remover.

Some guys use something called shark oil. I think you could probably find it doing a google search.
