Please tell me your thoughts of the site.

Well, I have to tell ya: it's a neat idea, but the table is far from life-like. It's a typical overhead view pool table game. I've been playing Virtual Pool for years, and VP3 has the nearest thing to a realistic simulation of a pool table there is. There's only so much you can do with a web browser interface. No, for a more realistic online pool experience, it would have been ideal to utilize VP3's online capabilities to host internet matches, much like the VIP ladder. Too bad VP3 doesn't translate well into a web browser interface.

Still might be fun for a few bucks, though. /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well I have to admit I can't find the table! /ccboard/images/graemlins/confused.gif duh If I can't find the table, how will I play? Well maybe between now and March it'll show up. It might be of interest to some but I like the real deal. I can find the table at my pool room. LOL

Rod, login with the pre-filled guest login, then click "Play Pool" on the menu bar to the left. The table should pop-up in a new window, although it wasn't active for me. Kind of a mock-up, it seems.

"Icon of Sin" for what i know they will be using credit cards along with other forms of payment.
"Dmorris68" While I admire your Skepticism, did you not see the "coming soon" on the pool table? and i have it on good authority the game will be open soon for practice before the comps start. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for your input.

Yes, I did see the "Coming Soon..." My comments were aimed at the quality of the table. You said it was "the most life-like" but I disagreed. You cannot have life-like in an overhead 2D pool table, no matter how pretty you paint it. Check out VP3 if you haven't -- that is far more life-like.

No offense intended -- I was just taking exception with your description of the table. I'm a software engineer and web developer, and I know how difficult it is to model tables and physics, and doing anything even remotely realistic inside a browser interface is nigh impossible. But I'll be sure to check out the site as it progresses, and even participate (I did enter my e-mail for the beta).

There's been a few changes over at cashpoolcomps.com for the better i might add. It would be nice to see some people post there as well, as it would give some encouragement to the operators who seem to have worked pretty hard. thanks.

I think we can all appreciate the hard work that goes into creating some thing like this, BUT , you don't seem to realize, except for a relatively small number, most of us prefer to play real pool on real tables.

I'm sure your message has gotten out and some here will join in. Now you can give it a rest, unless you are getting paid by the post. /ccboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

dude I dont know who you think you are, if you dont like it dont read it, simple as that. Some big shot you are. how about you give yourself a rest from driving people mad.

Well it's not as simple as that. You have the message out as Rich suggested. I hardly feel the need to encourage the operators, their going to get their cut on this deal. That should be enough thanks. If people want to join in fine but I don't need an advertisement every few days and I doubt others do either. Especially about gambling over the internet. Not much different than online casinos.

I suggest you blend in with the people here. We talk about real pool for the most part and have some fun at the same time. People with attitudes don't last very long here.
Next I suggest you read The Board Rules. Try about 8 paragraphs down. http://www.billiardsdigest.com/ccboard/viewprivacy.php?Cat=

thanks Rod, can you answer my question? is pool a game of skill or is it gambling? if you say gambling i beg to differ.
I dont advertise for anyone, I use the board just like everyone else to talk different topics, talk about cues, which are the best tables and table cloth talk about about who farted on my shot, is that advertising?. but if its deemed advertising then I will stop as a matter of fact I will stop now . just stop attacking me. If you havent got something nice to say then dont say it at all.

01-23-2003, 08:12 PM
Lighten up stevie, you seem a bit over-sensitive. You jumped at me earlier for disagreeing with your assessment of the "life-like pool table" as if I was personally attacking you or something. Now when somebody asks you to tone down the continuous adverts, you get ugly.

You definitely come across as somebody with something to gain from pimping this web site, because that's all you talk about. You say you "use the board just like everyone else to talk different topics, talk about cues, which are the best tables and table cloth talk about about who farted on my shot..." when you only have 8 posts in 2 threads -- this one and the "Violence in Pool Halls" thread, and every single one of them are related to pimping this web site. So it appears that either (a) you've never actually talked about anything else here, in which case you're lying when you say you have, or (b) you created this new board account specifically to do this advertising, which isn't allowed on this board. Either option isn't going to win you any warm feelings from the board regulars here, so you shouldn't be surprised at the reaction you're getting...

Gosh, Rod, you must have great eyesight...

God, give me the serenity to ignore the people I do not like, to not see the ones i hate and the eyesight to know the difference...well not exactly but i forgot the real one and had to make it up... /ccboard/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
