View Full Version : Triming a tip after gluing
Is there an easy and cheap way to trim a tip? I just bought a 14mm moori tip, but my shaft is 13mm. I sanded it to fit, but that is alot of work.

There is a razor blade knife you can get at most hardware stores. Not the box cutter type but the heavy duty type with a handle.
I use this on occasions to strip/cut the excess. Very slow cuts and I try not to take off too much at a time. You can use the side of the ferrule as a guide for the blade.
A new blade will cut right thru the excess tip.
Hope this helps

And if you are concerned about cutting too much or getting too close to the ferrule, use Tom's blade as close as you can, then get a Porper Cut-Rite. The Cut-Rite is fool-proof -- it has a small "window" so you can see the ferrule, then you pull the cue back out to just where you cannot see the ferrule anymore, and that's where the blade starts. You won't cut your ferrule, and you can "fine-tune" the trimming.
