I was wondering today how many people work on the website here? It does not seem to get updated very frequently, and does not contain very much tournament coverage. Do they only follow the pro men/women events? Seems like they could get more information on this website. Or do they not want to compete with other pool tourney websites?

You might want to head on over to the AZBilliards (http://www.azbilliards.com) site for up-to-date tourney coverage by Mike Howerton and others.

Maybe it's their way of telling you to purchase a subscription to the magizine.. ya think?

Seems like a lot more people use this forum than AZ's, but it has more tourney coverage. Oh well to each his own

AZBilliards doesn't publish a monthly magazine.
Inside Pool is also a good site for tournament results, coverage and pics..
But, IMO Mike Howerton's www.AZBilliards.com (http://www.AZBilliards.com) is the place to go for uptotheminute pool info. Mike also has a pretty good weekly email update on lots of the regional tournaments and well,, here is last week's update..
Welcome to the AzBilliards Weekly Update.
Lots of tournament action last weekend.
The weekend got underway on Saturday with the $2500 added open ladies event at JOB Billiards. Helena Thornfeldt defeated Monica Webb in the finals for the $1440 payday. Seems like Helena and Monica take turns in the winners
circle at all the ladies events at JOB. The complete story is at http://www.azbilliards.com/2000storya.cfm?storynum=821
The Molson Cue qualifier was held at LeSkratch Billiards with over 100 players. They were all playing to try to make it into the final field of eight that will compete in July on Canadian and French television. Check out the report at http://www.azbilliards.com/2000storya.cfm?storynum=828
and our online photo gallery at http://www.azbilliards.com/gallery/showgallery.cfm?gallerynum=36
Amar Kang and Keith McCready renewed their rivalry on the Falcon Cue 9-Ball tour at Fast Eddie's Billiard Café in Alexandria VA. This time, it was Kang who got the win and McCready who took second. We will be posting some great
pictures from this event later this week.

Santos Sambajon went undefeated for another Joss NE 9-Ball Tour stop win.
This time it was at Spot Shot Billiards in Portland, ME. With Ronnie Alcano out of the country, Sambajon seems to be taking control of the Joss Tour again. Read the report at
Hsin Huang won her second straight Northwest Womens Pool Association stop at Dr. Cue Billiards in Shoreline, WA. This time, Huang beat Korean star Kim Ga Young in the finals. Both ladies are competing in Canada this week
at Great White Billiards. Good luck to both ladies. Read about the NWPA stop at http://www.azbilliards.com/2000storya.cfm?storynum=824
The big event this week is the Western Canadian Open 9-Ball Championship which got underway today. Big names at this one include Strickland, Souquet, Archer, Pagulayan, Wiseman, Salvas and Horsfall. Oh yeah, and the Ashton twins. Our coverage of this started today with brackets and Diana Hoppe arrives in Calgary on Wednesday so look for our usual picture coverage to begin early Wednesday evening.
There is a $10,000 added open and women's 8-ball event at the St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake Wisconsin from Friday til Sunday. All the details are available at www.mnbilliards.com (http://www.mnbilliards.com)
The South East Open 9-Ball Tour gets back to action this weekend at Morey's Billiards in Charlotte, NC. If you are in the area, come on out to see some great 9-ball action. You never know who is going to stop in at a SE Open event.
The Pechauer West Coast Tour will be at Backstreet Billiards in Boise ID this weekend. This is a great chance to see some of the best players the west coast has to offer.
Things seem to be going from bad to worse for the San Miguel Asian 9-Ball Tour. After a fantastic first event, the stop in Ho Chi Minh had to be postponed due to the SARS outbreak. Now the tour is postponing the Hong Kong leg originally scheduled to take place on May 3rd and 4th. Read all the details in their press release at
Billiard Club Network signed a deal with the Falcon Cue 9-Ball Tour to include video coverage of their events on the BCN program. Now those of us who are not able to get to the East coast can see some of this great action. Check out the press release at http://www.azbilliards.com/2000pressrelease.cfm?id=107
The University of Central Florida will face off against Texas A & M this weekend in the first ever Florida/Texas collegiate billiards tournament.
Some of the great stars on the pro 9-ball scene got their start playing at the collegiate level and these college players deserve all the support we can give them. Read the complete press release at
I know we promised new columns last week. This week we will double up with two new 'focus on' articles from Anne Craig and more instructional material. And we promise we will finally get the other Valley Forge pictures posted.

You mean someone reads all that stuff I write each week? Cool!!!

I guess it must be difficult to stay on top of all that is going on. I subscribe to 3 pool magazines, and have noticed that more often than not, the ads and notices of upcoming events are for things that have already taken place by the time I get my magazines. I agree that AZ billiards stays on top of things better than any place I have seen. Example, the SE 9 ball stop that finished up around 10PM this past Sunday had results up on AZB Monday morning.
Mike.......I love your site, I really do; but would you change the color of the links on the left? The lack of contrast between the red and black is hard for us old guys to read. Your site is THE place to go to get current tournament coverage info. Thanks and keep up the good work. dave

Red and Black?? The style sheet calls for yellow and black. What browser are you using?
An older version of Netscape (3.01) on a Power Mac. If that's the reason, my apologies. Thanks for the reply.

That has to be it.
