A question I've been meaning to ask since VF...Why does JL not rack for her opponent? When it was her turn to rack she would call to the TD or one of his assistants and have them rack. Is it a sponsorship thing or what?

I have no idea. But I have a guess, based on what I have seen in many other tournaments (not with JL) in the past.

If the TD is racking for BOTH opponents, then it means that there was some disagreement between the players regarding the quality and honest of the racking.

If the TD is racking only for Jeanette, and Jeanette's opponent is racking herself, then it might have to do with Jeanette's back. Racking is hard on the back. But then, so is playing Pool.

I thought maybe it was her back too but she didn't seem to have any problems shooting any type of shot. Maybe it was just not wanting wear and tear racking. I watched three of her matches and she had someone else rack for her every time and her opponents racked themselves.

Jeanette's back is acting up again. She has problemss lifting the heavier Sardo rack contraption.

It is indeed her back.

With the nine now on the spot and with the unusually heavy Sardo rack, racking now puts extra stress on a person with back problems. In fact,I could be mistaken, one of the girls have already hurt their back while racking in a Sardo tournament.

Yeah, that makes sense. I hadn't thought of that. I guess I am too much in the habit of pretending that the Sardo rack (and the accompanying racking the 9 on the spot) doesn't exist. /ccboard/images/icons/smile.gif

I can relate to the bad back situation as I have the lower 3 discs in my back over half way deteriorated. Long periods of time shooting really causes extra strain on the back and racking doesnt help any either, particularly when the the table is ball return style vs. drop pockets. I have been told by my back specialist that I will be havimg atleast 1 major back operation by the time I am 40. I am 32 now. Ralph S.

Jeannette was definitely having problems with her back at VF. By the late night, early morning, matches, you could see the pain in her face and she was apparently having trouble moving around the table. Any player having physical problems can ask for some one to rack for them. I have seen Jeanette, Maureen Seto and a couple of other players take advantage of that. Rich R.

when u have to lean over and lift that rack, all the weight falls on the back- I had heard that Nesli Ohare was going to have to quit the tour becasue her back couldnt take the Sardo-just one more reason to get rid of the thing- Maybe if we promise the Sardo Bros they can still hang around tournaments and we will pretend they are bigshots, they will give up on money-losing rack
