we had a very nice string of Pool Tournaments, here at my local Pool Hall. And we didn't get a lot of guff from anyone, because of the different format.
At my suggestion, because the Tournaments were finishing up way past closing time, we played on both size Pool Tables. The Winning side of the brackets were always played on the 9 footers, the Losers Bracket was completed on the Bar Boxes.
The real surprise was this >>> some of the better players were taken out of the contest on the Bar Boxes, leaving the 6 & 7 Speeds to vie for the Tournament wins.
This format was used several times, then a NEW owner showed up & we're back to the ways of old. The NEW owner did have several tournaments of SHORT RACK 8 Ball (race to your rating) on the Bar Boxes, that was a brutal game & a real refreshing change.
