View Full Version : Richard Petty Driving Experience Revisited

I posted earlier about my gift for Christmas. I cashed it in yesterday at Lowes Motor Speedway in Charlotte. I got to do 8 laps in a 600hp Winston Cup Racecar. My fastest lap was 144.27mph. It was a pure adrenlin rush. It was the same feeling I had 21 years ago, when my flight instructor got out of the plane and told me to give her 3 take-offs and landings. You new you could do it, but you new you had to do everything just right or things might not be to good. If any of you are into thrills, you might want to locate a school near you. I am posting a couple of pictures of my tubby butt. Lock

That's what I want to do next time I'm in Vegas.
The last time they weren't running the cars the week we were out there.

Glad you hear you survived! LOL I'll bet that was a fun ride, nothing like a little speed to get your heart started. Good pics by the way.
There are schools for drag racing, that will get you to 150+ fairly easy in a few heart beats. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif Good stories for the grand kids.

Actually, it was pretty easy to steer. The car is set up to turn left and it handled better in the corners, than it did on the straight aways. All you had to do was turn left on entrance and kinda hold it close to the white line on the inside. Coming off the corners, you had to muscle it up to the outside wall.
It was loud, but you had your mind on other things and it didn't bother me.
Was I skeered? Let's put it this way. You couldn't drive a hat pin up my a$$ with a sledge hammer.
Was it fun and would I do it again? It was the most fun I have ever had without a girl being involved. I haven't been able to keep my mine off it for more than a few minutes at the time. I will definitely do it again.

You don't have to wait 'til you get to Vegas. There are two tracks in your area that Petty has schools. They are Nazareth Speedway and New hampshire Int'l Speedway. Given the choice, I would do Vegas. Pocono has a school also, but I believe Speedtech runs that school. I don't know anything about them, but they advertize more laps for less money. They have to be pretty good or they couldn't stay in business. I would love to try Pocono. They have the longest straight-aways of any track on the NASCAR CIRCUIT. That would be really wild. Go for one of them Barbara. You will never regret your decision. The web address for Petty is www.1800bepetty.com. (http://www.1800bepetty.com.) Good luck Barbara.

Well, Pocono's the closest to me and Eric pm'd me why shouldn't I want to do it there. I replied that that's a "vacation thing".
Heck, the hubby's going to Pocono with some of his buds for a NASCAR event this month, I'll have him check stuff out.
Meanwhile, I'll check out the Ceasar's Pocono Resorts!! /ccboard/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Any chance I can get to drive three digits in the mph and not have to worry about watching around just tickles me fine!
Barbara~~~doesn't have a radar detector... just good eyes watching for sudden brake lights... /ccboard/images/graemlins/wink.gif
