Up until just a few minutes ago, my internet connection at home was 26.4K dial up. I've been using personal computers longer than 99.999999999% of the world and have been on the internet since its early days, and yet I've had the slowest connection than anyone. Until now. The cable guy just left, and I am flying high, baby.
Fred <~~~ cable internet is the bomb (at least for the first few minutes)
faster pRon /ccboard/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Congrats on the cable modem. /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Verizon just dropped there DSL rates to $30/mo for 1.5/128 from $50 for 768/128. I don't imagine anyone paying $20-$23 for dialup will continue to do so around here anymore. Tom

I just got cable a few days ago. It sure is nice. Congrats on your new present to yourself fred.
Comcast had a great special $22 dollars for six months. Then regular price of $47. How does that stack up with what the rest of you are paying?
bw
Cheaper than mine till you make the 6 month jump. The rate also depends on the service. What are your dl/ul rates. I don't have a great service and it is 40/month. Something like 750/128 (sure the dl is not correct but close).

Just checked my speed>>>> 1686 kbps
I pay $30 plus $10 for lease of modum....
I would give up hot water before I would give up the cable connection....what would you rather do, pay $20 p/month to be mad everyday or pay $40 to be happy everyday??? No contest......LOL..... /ccboard/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ccboard/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Yep, same here Cheese. That dial up is like watching grass grow. No contest on spending the extra money. BTW I broke their tach at 2679! LOL I have another site that checks speed in my region. I did avg over 3200, it has dropped now to apx 2800 so both tests see fairly accurate.

Cox started a promo at 29.95 for 300/3000. Now the std rate is 34.95 for 256/3000. Its pretty quick, plus I've tweaked mine a bit.
