Break cut shot

Watching the Deuel/Strickland match from BcTV Billy Incardona keeps refering to whether Earl or Cory will be using the soft break or the cut break.

What is the cut break?

Not sure but that may be when they use a soft grip on the cue to break hard.

I believe it's breaking with an angle on the one using outside english and the rail to bring the Q-ball back in the center...
