Hi everyone,

Those who know my friend Jon Kucharo will be happy to know he's opening up his own hall. When I spoke to him the other day after the Midwest 9 Ball Championship Tour tourney held at the Holiday Inn in Moline. BTW, Jon took off the 8 Ball event. Quick $1000.00, must be nice?

Anyway, he's opening up a 6 table room Oct.1st. He said he's having one, 5 X 10, two, GC's and three Barboxes. $3.00 per hr. or a $5.00 all day rate. No liquor. I'm curious if he can make it without booze. It seems that you almost have to have it to cover the overhead.

Well, I'm hoping he does good. It's in Bettendorf, IA. and he's to meticulous to have a kiddie hall. However he does believe in promoting the sport to the younger generation. We'll see.

6 tables, no booze? Might be tuff covering his nut. Should get good business just because of his notoriety though.

Hi Wally,

He told me he's paying $1500.00 a mth so, if he can pull in $50. a day it'll cover rent anyway. He'll have pool videos running everyday and there are some rich kids in Bettendorf. The trouble with having booze is the high cost of insurance. He is opening it on a shoe string but many successful businesses started out that way.

I was curious to see if he'll be playing any events? He told me only about 6 events per yr. We all know if you own a PH it usually means you'll be working it more than playing.

Regards,

C.C.

Chris,

We have a place similiar to that around here...real small, no booze. They are just waiting for the opportunity to get a larger hall though.

One question: If the goal is 50.00 a day, and you rent all 6 tables at 5.00/all day cost, wouldnt 30.00 be below the amount needed?

Hope he does well! I like the idea of a 5x10, couple GC's, and some BB's...variety works.

Hi Perk,

I wondered about the same thing however, not everyone will get the all day rate. Most will shoot maybe 2 hrs. than Jon will give them the all day rate and save them a buck. The customers happy for the break and I'm thinking Jonny will offer lessons, maybe some after hrs action will help. His license is 24 hrs too.

He'll have some options, memberships possibly? Say, $60.00 mth from opening till 6pm maybe. I think he'll be ok. He told me he can cover a few mths till word gets out locally. Bettendorf has a lot of kids with money and nothing to do. I just don't want to see it a kiddie hall without supervision.

His Dad has a cue wholesale business along with cases and stuff, that will be a positive. The location is also close to the casino boats. I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. LOL

Regards,

C.C.~~if it was Vegas, he could have a wedding chapel included, like me and RIP are. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif BTW, it's great to hear from ya Perk. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi, how are you? We'll see you this weekend. I don't think Johnny has plans to open yet until Oct 1, but maybe we can pull a few strings, LOL.
