View Full Version : Do cuemakers seal the area that receives the wrap?

I'm living in the South, in a house that isn't air-conditioned. The butts of my cues have swelled--presumably because they've absorbed moisture from the air. This makes me wonder whether cuemakers routinely seal the turned-down area that is to receive the linen or leather wrap.

Just curious...

My local mentor cuemaker dips his handle stock on Nelsonite and even sprays them. This way, the glue for the wrap would cling better and will seal the handle area.

They should, but I have re-wraped enough cues over the years to tell you that most don't.
