Billiards : Manan beats Alok

Chandigarh, September 26: MANAN Chandra staged a remarkable rally to produce a memorable victory against Alok Kumar in the third Chaudhary Vishnu Pal Singh Memorial 9 Ball Pool Championship at Chandigarh Club here today.

Alok Kumar began confidently when he raced to a 4-1 lead. Manan Chandra rallied splendidly. He first levelled the score and than took an unbeatable lead of 10-7. With Alok’s dream of retaining the Pool Championship started frittering away he made a last ditch effort to make it 10-9.

However, he made blunder on the 8th ball. He pondered over the helpless position and simply disturb the balls with his cue and surrendered a great final to Manan Chandra.

Earlier, Alok Kumar outplayed Tamil Nadu star M Ranjan who played exceedingly well thoughout the tournament but against Alok he came out a cropper.

The match between Dharminder Lilly and Manan Chandra was billed as virtually during the tournament. Manan came out a winner. Today won with consummate ease against his talented rival.

However, Dharminder Lilly once again fumbled against M Ranjan for the 3rd place. The later won by 7-1.

Seven-time World Billiards champion Geet Sethi give away the prizes.
