This comes pretty close. I like the '72 a little better though.

I've owned 4 Cutlasses but never a convertible. A 1970 Cutlass Supreme black over burgundy. A 1974 burgundy over white. A 1972 brown over cream. A 1970 Cutlass SX with a 455 Rocket navy over baby blue. I love the look, but needed something more dependable and could not afford to restore the SX.

There's no way I could drive an expensive car and be comfortable doing it. I'd be totally afraid of "the other guy". I've driven a beat up 1955 Chevy pickup, and "the other guy" steers totally clear of that!
I've owned my favorites: 1955 T-Bird and 1969 Mustang convertible, Candy Apple Red. I married into a darling 1967 Corvette convertible.
The Mustang was murdered, and we sold the other two to put me through school.
Hey Cueless, you could probably afford a pretty decent cue or two if you sold that car! /ccboard/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Spetty...did you wind up with my old '69 Mustang? Had turn signals built into the top of the hood? Was white till too many idiots managed to hit it. So had it painted candy apple red. 351 was put in just before I got it. Thing was fast enough to turn the rag top to real rags. Sold it to someone on the east cost.

Rod,
A friend of mine has spent the last 3 years doing a frame off restoration on a 1955 Corvette. It is absolutely amazing the attention to detail and research he's gone through. His car when complete will be one of a handfull that are completely original and perfect in every detail. When I asked him about approximate value he claimed that $100,000 would be about right.

Barbara - I used to have a 1960 Corvette. Only mine was blue with cragar mags, L-50 tires, Hurst shifter, 1956 Vette rear taillights and bumperettes, 2" rear fender flares, L-88 hood, hi-rise maifold, but it didn't run worth a $hit. The motor was tired. I had it for 14 years. It definitely turned heads, but it needed time, money, and work, and I had none of the above. I also had a 1969 Harley Sportster as well. I wouldn't mind owning an AC Cobra with a 429 engine or a Duesenberg. That's going to extremes but...
DG - who wished he still had the vette and harley

VOODOOO DADDY!!!!!!!!!! Great minds think alike. Mine would be the 1970 Dodge Super Bird as you have pictured. Mine would have to be the 426 Hemi option though. Beleive it or not, this was the fastest production car in the world for many years. It would do 200mph+ right off the factory line and showroom floor. This car is also the reason Mopar had such a long haitus from NASCAR.
It's first year enetered in stock car racing in its first event at Daytona, all three cars finished 1-3. Ford and Chevy cried foul and thats when specs and restrictor plates and massive rules changes came about. In the good ole days of run what ya brung, nobody touched Mighty Mopar.
Incase anybody doubts Mopar's credibility in stck car racing, keep in mind Richard Petty won two thirds or better of his races in a Mopar before switching to Pontiac. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Barbara, I'm no car expert, but you may want to look under the hood. I believe the XKE's had a straight 6, with porcelin exhaust manifolds, IIRC.
